Today is #WorldSustainableTransportDay, a day to recognise the vital role transport must play in connecting communities, supporting economies, and reducing emissions. The United Nations recognises this day to highlight the need for transport systems that are safe, low-emission, inclusive, and better connected across modes. At Hybrid Air Vehicles, this focus is exactly what drives us. Airlander is designed to be part of a more sustainable transport network: a low-emissions aircraft that enhances intermodal connectivity, reaches underserved regions, and offers an inclusive solution that isn’t limited to just certain groups or areas. Days like this are a reminder that the future of transport isn’t just about speed or capacity, it’s about creating systems that work for people and the planet. Airlander is one example of that vision in action.

"Airlander is another exciting airframe for line-fit of our powertrains as it can open up a whole new market in air travel due to its range, efficiency and ability to operate from almost anywhere.” - Val Miftakhov, Founder and CEO, ZeroAvia Airlander’s unique design makes it well suited for a hydrogen-powered future. Our two teams will be collaborating, bringing together our collective knowledge and experience to accelerate the transition towards zero-emission, hydrogen powered aircraft, on a large-scale.

We recently spoke with gasworld where our Executive Director of Sales, George Land shared how Airlander uses helium in its hybrid lift design, why helium is key to the aircraft’s efficiency, and how our approach supports a more sustainable future for aviation. George explained how combining buoyant lift with aerodynamic lift and vectored thrust allows Airlander to carry significant payloads, stay airborne for extended periods, and operate from locations without traditional runways — creating new possibilities for passenger transport, logistics, and defence.

Hybrid Air Vehicles reposted this
Timing is everything and right now exciting things are happening at Hybrid Air Vehicles For those unfamiliar with the technology, Airlander 10 is a new type of hybrid aircraft that uses a combination of aerostatic lift, aerodynamic lift, and vectored thrust, with a 10 tonne payload and 4,000 nautical mile maximum range. Hot on the heels of securing its first reservations from an undisclosed defence contractor to boost the existing passenger order book, the company has signed an agreement with ZeroAvia to explore collaboration on a zero-emission variant of Airlander. Last week I was delighted to participate in an investor event at HAV's Airlander technology centre alongside commercial director George Land and CEO Tom Grundy to answer questions on the aircraft's potential for high-end experiential travel from an engaged and enthusiastic audience. Wednesday's event took place almost thirty years to the day following the first #easyJet flight. I still remember the #aviation experts who said back then that the #airline would never get off the ground. With the benefit of hindsight I see now that easyJet's success owed much to its timing. De-regulation of Europe's skies had created a once in a generation opportunity, while the convergence of credit card take-up and disintermediation created the circumstances where a direct sales low-cost airline could thrive. The UK has a proud heritage of aviation and #aerospace innovation and I have a similar feeling today in respect of Airlander as I did back in 1995 toward easyJet. Few things feel better than proving the sceptics wrong! #sustainability Toni Green Hwfa Gwyn

The aviation industry is experiencing significant growth, with passenger revenues projected to reach an all-time high of $693 billion in 2025, marking a 1.6% increase from 2024 (IATA). This surge highlights the increasing demand for air travel and the need for innovative solutions to meet this growth sustainably.

We have partnered with ZeroAvia to explore the development of zero-emissions Airlander Read the full announcement: https://lnkd.in/dCiqzSaG The partnership will explore equipping Airlander aircraft with four ZeroAvia hydrogen-electric ZA600 powertrains. With plenty of room for hydrogen storage in the hull, Airlander represents an excellent option for adopting the first generation of certified hydrogen technologies that are already close to market entry. This could deliver large-scale zero-emissions flight before any other large aircraft.

Global logistics faces increasing challenges: - Limited infrastructure in remote regions makes deliveries slow and costly. - Traditional cargo aircraft have high emissions and are constrained by runway availability. - Time-sensitive goods often require complex multimodal links, increasing delays. Airlander offers a new approach: - Flexible operations: Can take off and land on any relatively flat surface. - Direct-to-destination: Bypasses ports and multiple handovers for a more predictable supply chain. - Sustainable: Lower emissions than conventional aircraft, supporting greener logistics. 🚀 Learn more about how Airlander can transform the future of logistics: https://lnkd.in/eCjat4f2 #Airlander #RethinkTheSkies #Logistics #FutureOfFlight #FutureOfTransport #Innovation #InnovationInAviation
