HKS blends rich, cultural heritage and luxurious, modern comforts on the historic Silk Road with the design of the Huamei Resort Yining InterContinental and EVEN Hotel Complex. Connected by a River Valley Courtyard, the two hotels relate to one another while maintaining distinct identities. Inspired by the folk houses of Yining, corridors give visitors views of the surrounding landscape and feature design elements inspired by a mix of local ethnic cultures. Setting a new benchmark in Yining’s luxury hotel market, this project enhances the city’s tourism appeal and fuels economic growth in the region. Designed for adaptation. Installing a 15,000 lbs. MRI machine on the upper floors of a hospital takes innovative thinking. The design team at HKS used a removable panel on the outer wall of Joe DiMaggio Children’s Hospital to provide a point of entry for the installation of the machine.
