Do you feel lonely in your workplace? According to Gallup, one in five employees in the workplace is lonely. “One of the things that people are getting wrong is they think it’s rare to be lonely at work,” says Constance Noonan Hadley, associate professor at Questrom School of Business, Boston University and the founder of the Institute for Life at Work. Her research found loneliness in employees who work from home and those who work in an office. Employees who identified as introverts were lonely, and so were employees who were extroverts. Employees of all genders, age groups, and backgrounds have some level of loneliness… and the ramifications for employers could be severe.
