The space between buildings has been the blind spot of factory automation. ZF LIFETEC Mesa changed that. By introducing our outdoor/indoor AMRs, they connected their warehouse and production buildings through autonomous, scheduled deliveries. This new layer of automation bridges the last gap between indoor and outdoor workflows, creating a continuous material flow across their site. #outdoorAMR #materialhandling #manufacturingautomation #autonomousrobot ZF Group

Excited to partner with Holo Norway to bring Cartken outdoor/indoor autonomous robots to more industrial plants and campuses. 🏭 The tech is mature, predictable, and ready to support the daily movement of materials across complex sites, where people still spend hours on repetitive walking and hauling. #materialhandling #intralogistics #autonomousrobot #outdoorAMR
It works! Autonomous robots aren’t “emerging technology” anymore — they’re mature, reliable, and ready to deliver value today. Our recent work with Cartken has made that very clear. While full-size autonomous vehicles still face regulatory complexity, higher speeds, and higher risk profiles, small autonomous robots operate in a very different space. The technology is stable, the risk is manageable, and the operational toolkit is strong. A few results from our recent joint project operating for foodora: • Close to 100% autonomy out-of-the-box. The rest is easily solved operationally and remote. • Holo handles 100% remote operation. • Holo handles 100% mapping, deployment. So what’s the gap? Not the tech. Not the operations. What’s missing are the right use cases and deeper integrations — industrial sites, logistics environments, campuses, and other controlled areas where daily low-speed transport tasks are still done manually. This is where autonomy can deliver value right now. This is where the return is clear. And this is where Holo and Cartken are ready to support customers.

ZF LIFETEC Mesa saves 3–4 hours per shift for each Cartken outdoor/indoor AMR. Before automation, this automotive parts manufacturer relied on human-operated flatbed golf carts to move raw materials and components across its multi-building site. 🏭 Employees spent hours driving, unloading, and manually moving materials from staging areas to points-of-use. Now, Cartken Hauler handles those runs on a fixed 30-minute route and schedule, connecting production areas and a warehouse. The results were immediate. We spoke with Lenord Landwehr, Plant Logistics and Materials Manager, about the impact the Cartken Hauler robot made on their daily operations. #outdoorAMR #materialhandling #manufacturingautomation #autonomousrobot ZF Group

The goal isn’t fewer people, it’s a smarter use of people. Material handling automation isn’t about cutting headcount, but instead creating environments where people do meaningful work. Cartken outdoor/indoor AMRs handle the routine transport between buildings, production areas, and warehouses, all the way to points of use. It frees up your team to focus on tasks that actually require human judgment, creativity, and oversight. The facilities that see the biggest gains are the ones that use automation to make every role more productive and more satisfying. A connected material flow doesn’t replace your team; it supercharges them. #outdoorAMR #materialhandlingautomation #productionautomation #manufacturinglabor

One robot, many ways to haul. Cartken Hauler AMR isn’t locked into one setup. It adapts to how your site works and good you move. Instead of building your logistics around a fixed vehicle, you shape the Hauler to fit your needs. #AMR #materialhandling #roboticautomation #mobilerobot

There are two types of material handling automation: one that requires changing your process, and another that simply plugs in. 🧩 Many projects fail because they’re too disruptive. They demand new infrastructure, complex integration, and a lot of testing - often leading to production downtime. 📉 But not all solutions are like that. The advantage of the new generation of outdoor/indoor AMRs like Cartken is how quickly they adapt to your environment and processes. Deployment takes about a week while production continues running. ⚙️ You can start small with one route, two buildings, and a single use case, then expand as you go. That’s how you build momentum and prove ROI without halting your operations. #outdoorAMR #autonomousrobot #AMR #materialhandling

Most autonomous robots are designed for either indoors or outdoors, not both. Cartken bridges that gap, using RealSense depth cameras to stay aware and accurate as robots move through doorways, corridors, and open-air routes. This capability to move between environments expands where autonomy can be applied, improving countless workflows across large industrial sites. #outdoorAMR #autonomousrobot #mobilerobot
Autonomous #robots face one of the toughest perception challenges in tech: moving seamlessly between indoor and outdoor environments. 🧭 ⛈️ Weather can distort sensors. 🚧 Ramps, curbs, and uneven ground require 3D awareness. 🏭 Industrial sites demand reliability in high-traffic, unpredictable settings. How do you design a vision system that sees clearly — in any light, any weather, any environment? Cartken tackled this head-on, building autonomy that works across factories, campuses, and city streets. See what made it possible 👇 https://lnkd.in/ehZXGGK9

From Germany to Arizona, Cartken outdoor/indoor AMRs are transforming material handling. At ZF Lifetec’s Aschau and Mesa sites, our robots have automated routine material and sample transport tasks that once required hours of manual handling between buildings every shift. The impact is clear: ✅ Faster material flow ✅ More efficient production workflows ✅ Employees spend time on higher-value work ✅ Less exposure to weather conditions during daily operations Read the case study here (German): https://lnkd.in/eabB9Rmt _______ 🇩🇪 Von Deutschland bis Arizona: Cartkens Indoor/Outdoor-AMRs verändern den Materialfluss. #outdoorAMR #materialhanglingautomation #IntralogistikAutomatisierung

The most overlooked area in industrial automation? The movement of materials and products between points of use. Factories focus on optimizing assembly lines, improving picking, and automating warehouse storage. But between those optimized areas lies the most inefficient zone: the delivery routes connecting them. The space between supply storage, production lines, maintenance bays, and separate buildings can waste hours per shift, cause scheduling delays, and hide real productivity losses. Until that gap is automated by outdoor AMRs or autonomous forklifts, true factory-wide efficiency remains out of reach. #factoryautomation #materialhandling #outdoorAMR
