Provide food to all in need through community partnerships and hunger-relief programs.

About us

The Food Bank for Larimer County's mission is to provide food to all in need through community partnerships and hunger-relief programs. In FYE 2024, the Food Bank for Larimer County provided more than 10.2 million pounds of food to those in need. 42% of this food was produce and 9.4 million pounds of this food was rescued, meaning it would have been thrown away if we didn't intervene. We distribute food through three primary programs: Fresh Food Share No-Cost Markets, kids and senior meals programs, and our agency partner network. Our Fresh Food Share No-Cost Markets are client-choice, meaning clients get to select the food that is right for them and their families. With locations in Fort Collins and Loveland, both shopping locations offer a selection of purchased, donated, and government-funded food to income qualifying individuals. While some programs and food options are limited to those using government-supported programs, anyone who is experiencing food insecurity can shop at our two no-cost market locations. The Nutritious Kitchen prepares more than 200,000 nutritious meals and snacks annually for children and seniors in our community, while our Agency Partner Network works with more than 120 nonprofit partner agencies to provide food to the clients they serve. These organizations include food pantries, soup kitchens, after-school programs, and domestic violence shelters, and more. An estimated 50,000 Larimer County residents facing food insecurity receive assistance from the Food Bank each year. Our collective services and programs saved clients $38.2 million last year alone.

Updates

  • Thank you Rebecca Powell and The Coloradoan, for reporting on Congressman Joe Neguse's visit to the Food Bank last week to hear about the urgent needs in Larimer County. Our CEO, Amy Pezzani, told Congressman Neguse that the number of new household signups in October tripled the average — from 150 news monthly signups to more than 500. Pezzani was quoted in the article: "No one will go hungry. No one will not get food, but there's no way for us to make up for $120 million in lost (SNAP) revenue to families." We're heartened to see our community rally around our most vulnerable residents, but we can also use your help. • We need to raise 4,700 turkeys this year! With the freeze on SNAP right now, we know this puts even more families in need of support this Thanksgiving. We are very grateful to have New Belgium Brewing as a partner, with their New Belgium Brewing - Fort Collins team volunteering with us and offering incentives to our first 250 donors at our Tour de Turkey sites on Nov. 20. • It is more important now than ever that we rally as a community to support those in need. We're grateful for all of the support, and the word is getting out! The Coloradoan recently published an extensive article detailing many of the local resources that are available. The article covers our Fresh Food Share No Cost Markets in Loveland and Fort Collins and goes on to mention additional resources in Wellington and Colorado State University. Local businesses are stepping up as well, including: Friendly Nick's Butcher, Mo Jeaux's Bar & Grill, Chicken Salad Chick, and Taco John's. Please read and share the article: https://heyor.ca/rzs74O Please also consider giving while resources are such in demand. We have many ways to give: https://heyor.ca/AbjYq3

  • Today is the start of the Colorado Gives Day campaign! If ever there was a time when your donation could make an impact in fighting hunger, it's now. In the month of October, we saw the number of new household sign ups at our No Cost Markets more than triple compared to our average — from roughly 150 new household sign ups a month to more than 500. Every dollar given will be critical to helping us procure more food to meet this increased need for hunger relief amid a government shutdown, including helping keep our community's families fed as they face the month of November without food assistance payments. Donations can be made on our Colorado Gives Day page here: https://heyor.ca/52POPo

  • Look who we spotted! It's Kat, owner of Bistro Nautile. Not only has Kat been a partner in helping us to raise funds for our Taste Walkabout by creating delicious and award-winning tastes, but there she was yesterday working with our amazing Global Leader partners to hand out food boxes to roughly 130 households who attended our mobile market yesterday. We love to see the way our local businesses engage to fight hunger and inspire and lead others in doing the same. A huge thank you to Kat, Global Leaders and our youth volunteers who helped us to ensure our community received food during this challenging time. Need food? • "The resounding message is this: if ever there was a time when your support could make the greatest impact, it’s now," says Food Bank CEO Amy Pezzani in a new blog, SNAP Hold Freezes Lifeline for Many: Here's How You Can Help. She continues, "As the government shutdown continues, the SNAP benefits that have been a lifeline to 34,000 people in Larimer County are now on hold." "We are rallying our community and connecting with our Feeding Colorado partners — a network of five food banks across the state". "If you can give, please help us to make continuing this support a reality. For every donated dollar, the Food Bank can use its purchasing power to buy the equivalent of two meals’ worth of food. Your support, and every gift matters". Learn how to give: https://heyor.ca/shbZ3H
