Today is intersex awareness day! Intersex is an identity that is frequently misunderstood, even by other people in the LGBTQ+ community. BUT being intersex is just as common as having red hair. Join us in learning more about what it means to be intersex and how to start being a better ally. #IntersexAwareness #intersex #intersexy #OctoberAdvocacy #LGBTQHistoryMonth #PrideInEveryMonth #EnvisionYou #ColorfulColorado [Image Description 1: Purple background with yellow concentric circles representing the intersex flag; yellow text reads "intersex awareness day ". End Image Description]. [Image Description 2: Yellow Text on a purple background with a cartoon of a brain reading in the center. Text reads: "Most people assigned male at birth have xy chromosomes, while most people assigned female at birth have xx chromosomes. Intersex people may have different sex chromosomes, like xxy, just an x sex chromosome (xo), or may have sex chromosomes that vary by cell. They also may have Genitals that don’t match their reproductive organs or that are neither male or female." End Image Description]. [Image Description 3: Yellow text on purple background and a cartoon of someone doing the splits and holding the intersex flag. Text reads: "How will I know someone is intersex? You Probably won’t Unless they tell you! many intersex people don’t discover they are intersex themselves until later in life. Some may have noticeable differences in anatomy at birth, some may develop noticeable differences around puberty, or discover they are intersex due to abnormal Hormone production. It is possible to live your whole life without knowing you are intersex if you don’t get specific testing done". End Image Description]. [Image Description 4: Yellow text on purple background and a cartoon of a child with a scar on their abdomen. Text reads: "Aren't there surgeries that help? Intersex “corrective” surgeries are actually considered a human rights violation. Many of these surgeries have been performed without the individual’s knowledge or consent, and sometimes without their parents knowledge as well. Unfortunately, many surgeries are still carried out like this on children today, despite the understanding that they are irreversible, unnecessary, and can cause enduring harm both physically and psychologically." End Image Description]. [Image Description 5: Yellow text on purple background and a yellow speech bubble that says "FAQs". Text reads: "Are all intersex people sterile? Nope! And while many intersex people may struggle with fertility, Assistive Reproductive technology may help intersex folks start families. What pronouns do i use for intersex people? Just like with everyone, use the pronouns they tell you to use. Intersex people can identify as Cisgender, nonbinary, trans, Man, Woman, or any of the other identities we can hold around sex and gender. What is the opposite of intersex? Endosex." End Image Description].

Today is World Mental Health Day. World Mental Health Day is celebrated worldwide every day on October 10th. Each year has a theme and this year’s theme is “It’s Time to Prioritize Mental Health in the Workplace.” World Mental Health Day is a time where the world becomes united in raising awareness about mental health and the importance of breaking down barriers that prevent people from having mental stability and wellness in their lives. Here at Envision:You, we believe that access to mental health care is a human right, not a privilege. No matter where someone lives in the world, their economic standing, their sexual identity or race- everyone deserves access to safe places to heal and receive mental health services. #Envision:You #WorldMentalHealthDay #LGBTQwellness #nonprofit #Denver #mentalhealth [Image Description: Slide 1: There is an off-white background and two circles (one half circle, one full circle) with the words in black lettering, “World Mental Health Day October 10, 2024.” End Image Description] [Image Description: Slide 2: The slide uses an off-white background and has the title of “World Mental Health Day” in black lettering.
