About us

Entrepreneurs First invests in exceptional individuals to build startups from scratch. We bring together talented outliers to develop their most ambitious ideas and raise money from the world’s best investors. Since pioneering Talent Investing in 2014, we’ve learned to recognize individuals with extraordinary futures before anyone else, embedding them in a community of ambitious peers and giving them the tools they need to succeed, fast. We back them before they have a company, a team, even before they have an idea, based purely on talent. The startups cofounded on our programs are now worth over $13B, and include Tractable, Magic Pony Technology, Cleo, La Vie, Aztec, Sonantic, and many more. EF is backed by some of the world's leading founders and investors, including Patrick and John Collison (Stripe); Reid Hoffman (LinkedIn), Tom Blomfield (GoCardless and Monzo), Sara Clemens (Whatnot and Twitch); Demis Hassabis (Google Deepmind); and Matt Mullenweg (Wordpress). We exist to make great companies happen that otherwise wouldn’t. For more information about Entrepreneurs First, visit www.joinef.com We're hiring! CEO at Entrepreneurs First, cofounder Code First: Girls

The people who make EF… EF. 💥 One of our core values is Push Yourself and Other to Greatness - last week, we flew in the team from Paris, London, Bangalore and San Francisco to do just that. Our people are our product and I'm very proud of them. I’m constantly blown away by this group; their relentlessness, their judgment, and the way they push themselves to raise the bar for every founder who comes through Entrepreneurs First. We’re building something special and we’re hiring the next wave of investors to help us do it. DM me if you're interested in joining.

The $AZTEC token sale is live. An onchain, community-owned sale where you set the terms. No airdrops. No mysterious allocations. The sale was designed to put our community first. Over 300k addresses are whitelisted and will receive access to Day 1 bidding– and yes, it’s open to US citizens. The sale prioritizes real-time price discovery and fair access for everyone, powered by Uniswap Labs. You set the price and watch the tokens roll in, in real time. It starts at a floor price of $350M FDV, an estimated 75% discount from the latest implied network valuation based on the latest equity financing. Early contributors and community members, including testnet operators, OG Aztec Connect users, and Ethereum solo stakers, can start bidding today. The public sale runs from Dec 2–6, 2025, after which tokens can be withdrawn and staked directly onchain. Last week we brought our global team of Talent Investors together from Bangalore, Paris, London and San Francisco. Talent investing - working with individuals before they have a company, a cofounder, an idea and helping them figure out their life’s work - is a craft. Like all crafts there are many different styles and approaches that can be successful. Our team got to see and work with the world’s most experienced talent investors from Entrepreneurs First and our advisory network. We also heard from the likes of Zoe Jervier Hewitt and Zefi H. from Sequoia Capital and Misha Gordon-Rowe at Susa Ventures about how they view talent and the venture market, and the inimitable Adrian Jones on active listening and applying training from the Samaritans to really understand our founders. Underlying all of this was a great sense of privilege and humility at the quality of talent that we get to work with, and the lengths we will go to serve them and push them to greatness. • “Builders, Scientists, Technologists - you are not an asset that can be milked” Matt Clifford gave an exclusive interview with the etn. boys yesterday following his viral speech at Looking For Growth. They talked about backing builders to deliver economic growth in Britain and the benefits of spending time in Silicon Valley. If you’re a founder thinking about starting a company remember: You don’t need a perfect idea. You need an obsession. Starting a company is more like buying an option than a lottery ticket. You’re buying the right to find out whether you could build something big. The upside is huge, and the downside is limited. For talented, ambitious people early in their careers, this option is wildly underpriced. So LFG. Substack article and full interview in comments below cc Ronan Chambers Luke Knight Lawrence Newport

    Partner at Entrepreneurs First

At Entrepreneurs First we back early career talent; this extends to our team as well as founders. This is why today I am excited to launch our Venture Fellowship The two year fellowship is a role designed as an entry point for people at the earliest stages of their career to learn the ropes of venture capital, build out their startup network and get an inside view on what world class company building looks like At the end of the two years, we back the fellows to take their next step by actively helping them secure roles as either a full time investor, a startup operator or a founder Previous EF team alumni have gone on to become Partners at EF (Elspeth Lawson), work in Tier 1 VC (Zefi H.), become startup operators (Mahmoud SerewelRishabh Chaudhary), run government agencies (Pippy James) or founded their own companies (Lisa WehdenEden Banon-LagrangeSahil Tapiawala) See the link in the description for more information on the role and to apply now.

Fixing job search and hiring with Jack & Jill

We signed a lease for a new office last week - the space is a lot bigger than we need right now (although we're hoping to fill it over the next 6 months). We loved working with brilliant founders/engineers/hackers while working from the Entrepreneurs First office. That's why we're inviting London's most ambitious builders to come and work alongside us for free :)

Fixing job search and hiring with Jack & Jill | Personal and thoughtful- at AI scale

𝗙𝗿𝗲𝗲 𝗰𝗼-𝘄𝗼𝗿𝗸𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘀𝗽𝗮𝗰𝗲 𝗶𝗻 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗯𝗿𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗻𝗲𝘄 Jack & Jill 𝗼𝗳𝗳𝗶𝗰𝗲! We outgrew our last office in just 1 month and now we’re opening up our new offices for free! Comment “the Hill” or submit the form to co-work with us! When Matthew Wilson and I founded our previous companies it was the height of Covid. In-person teams were dead and every company was going to go remote first to win best talent - even my YC batch was fully remote! At Kular I took the contrarian view, we were going to build a fully in-person culture, despite being told by many a recruiter that it would make hiring engineers impossible. They were right. Building the team, especially as a first time founder was much harder, but it paid off: 💪 Our bonds were much stronger and people stuck with the company, even through the hard times 💡 I can't count the number of 10x ideas that came from a 2min ad-hoc whiteboarding session 🎉 But the most overlooked benefit- it was just incredibly fun, we made memories I'll cherish forever! That's why from day 1 Matthew Wilson (who built his last company to a remote team of 450 in 80 different countries) and I were entirely set on building an in-person team in London. But having spent the first 4 months of Jack & Jill surrounded by other founders in the Entrepreneurs First offices, I’m now convinced in-person isn’t just vital for early stage startups- it’s a boost to the entire ecosystem: 🔋 The energy was infectious- from deranged startup ideas scribbled on the windows, to late night celebrations when a team got their first term sheet 🔥 Ideas spread like fire- discussions in the kitchen about the latest model release or technique for improving Voice AI latency or whether to go for roll-ups vs. building tools 🍀 Surface area for luck- people we met in that room are now investors and users of both Jack and Jill. There was even a new class of startup idea on EF “𝗝𝗮𝗰𝗸 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗝𝗶𝗹𝗹 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗫” That’s why we’re opening up our offices 7 days a week to founders, hackers, solopreneurs or just people working remotely who want to meet interesting people. If you’d like to co-work, just comment “the Hill” or submit the form! (more details in the form) https://tally.so/r/lbDWLk

  • There are moments when the future stops feeling distant. This was one of them. We recently welcomed renowned investor Vinod Khosla back to the office in SF for a joint event with Imperial College London. Vinod has built and backed companies that defined entire industries. At our previous Demo Day, Silicon Valley’s most successful futurist made some bold predictions on AI, over months not decades. Watch the full clip. Then ask yourself what it means for the company you’re building.

𝗚𝗼𝗼𝗱 𝗶𝗱𝗲𝗮𝘀 𝗰𝗼𝗻𝗻𝗲𝗰𝘁 𝗼𝗻 𝗽𝗮𝗽𝗲𝗿. 𝗚𝗿𝗲𝗮𝘁 𝗼𝗻𝗲𝘀 𝗰𝗼𝗻𝗻𝗲𝗰𝘁 𝗽𝗲𝗼𝗽𝗹𝗲. 🌉🇨🇭 Probably one of the fastest yeses I’ve ever given — and to be fair, Violette made it an easy one. She somehow managed to perfectly describe the Builders Retreat before it even happened. But the reality? It exceeded every expectation. Why? Simple — 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗽𝗲𝗼𝗽𝗹𝗲. 23 unique minds, each with their own story, yet all sharing one thing: that unstoppable urge to build whatever sparks in their head. So while most of Zürich enjoyed a calm weekend… we collectively decided sleep was optional. From Friday night to Sunday morning, our prototypes ran on Anthropic credits — and we ran on Mate and curiosity. ☕⚡ Huge thanks to the Entrepreneurs First team for building The Bridge that connected us all — right in the heart of Switzerland. 🌉 Because in the end, great ideas start with great people — and I’m excited to keep building together, wherever our paths cross next. 🚀 And of course, a special shoutout to my awesome weekend team — Sven, Daniel, and Kyo — it was such a blast building with you.💡 Together, we worked on ACE — the Agentic Context Engine, a framework for self-improving AI agents that learn directly from their own experiences. 👩🏻💻 Grateful for this network of builders — and always up for more conversations that start with “what if…?” 💭 #EntrepreneursFirst #BuildersRetreat #FounderJourney #Serendipity
