“As administrator of the National Defense Stockpile, the Defense Logistics Agency recognizes that the availability of strategic and critical materials is a national issue, not just a defense issue,” said Matthew Beebe, DLA Acquisition director. To strengthen supply chain resilience, #DLAResearchandDevelopment has expanded its #StrategicMaterials program to reduce risks in the supply of critical minerals needed to sustain the nation’s most advanced weapons systems. “Increasing the scope and scale of the R&D program is necessary to meet expanding U.S. requirements for these materials and ensure the warfighter has uninterrupted access to the world’s most advanced weapons platforms,” said Vaibhav Jain, DLA R&D program manager. 🔗 Learn more about how DLA is advancing strategic materials research: https://lnkd.in/ei5V9h_4 #SupplyChain #Innovation #DefenseLogistics #WarfighterAlways

❓ How can 3D printing make military testing safer? #DLATroopSupport’s Product Test Center Analytical team created a 3D-printed hand that improves safety during glove testing. The model simulates a real human hand, allowing researchers to test gloves designed for hazardous materials like jet fuel without putting testers at risk. “This got me thinking that maybe we could create an artificial hand with the ability to flex its fingers. This would give us the capability of still performing the test without putting a tester at risk,” said Edward Dalton, PTC general engineer. Beyond protecting employees, the project also saves time, reduces exposure risks, and demonstrates how additive manufacturing can expand possibilities for future testing. 👉Discover how 3D printing is making military testing safer: https://lnkd.in/e7H_RppF #3DPrinting #MilitaryTesting #JetFuel #Chemistry #EngineeringInnovation #Safety #Innovation #FuelHandlers | US Navy | United States Department of Defense

💡 Did you know that #SmallBusiness contracts have been part of DLA’s mission since the agency was formed in 1961? Even before establishing a dedicated small-business office in 1979, DLA worked to strengthen the nation’s industrial base by awarding contracts to small companies. In 1970, for example, 41.4% of all procurements went to small businesses. Today, 80% of DLA’s 8,000 suppliers are small businesses, and the agency has met its Defense Department small-business goal for 12 years in a row. 👏 👉 Learn how your business can work with DLA: https://lnkd.in/e9kj7xAW #SmallBusinessContracts #DefenseIndustry #IndustrialBase #GovernmentContracts
