Startup Germany Summit 🚀 Hosted by the Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Climate Action (BMWK), the Startup Germany Summit serves as a pivotal platform that brings together startups, policymakers, and venture capitalists to explore strategies for empowering and advancing the German startup ecosystem. Our CEO, Dr. Lilian Schwich, was invited to represent cylib as a panelist in the session: “Building a Deep Tech Powerhouse: Transforming Germany and Europe into Global Deep Tech Leaders.” Dr. Lilian Schwich was joined by cylib investor and DTCF | DeepTech & Climate Fonds Managing Director Tobias Faupel, SCHUNK - Hand in hand for tomorrow's Technology and Innovation Expert Martin May, and Techstars Berlin Managing Director Martin Schilling. We have broken ground to start building our FOAK industrial battery recycling facility in CHEMPARK Dormagen! 🚧 On Monday, we were honored to have the Minister President of North Rhine-Westphalia, Hendrik Wüst, District Administrator Hans-Jürgen Petrauschke, and Mayor of Dormagen Erik Lierenfeld joining our groundbreaking ceremony, alongside our partners at Currenta GmbH & Co. OHG with Tim Hartmann, marking the beginning of a new chapter for the regional, national and EU-wide battery industry.   cylib’s industrial expansion represents a major step forward for the European circular economy and its battery infrastructure. The facility will start to ramp up in 2026, with a full recycling capacity of ca. 30,000 tons of end-of-life batteries per year. 🇪🇺   In a press release by Staatskanzlei des Landes Nordrhein-Westfalen the Minister President of NRW, Hendrik Wüst said: “North Rhine-Westphalia aims to become Europe’s first climate-neutral industrial region. To achieve this, we need innovative companies and smart minds contributing with creative ideas and pioneering solutions. Sustainable battery recycling, as operated by cylib, is essential for the circular economy and for achieving our climate goals.”   The groundbreaking ceremony for the industrial site took place exactly one year after the commissioning and inauguration of cylib's pilot line in Aachen. 🏭 Here, we validated our proprietary technology in projects with international partners from the automotive, battery and chemical industry. A massive battery recycling plant is being built in Germany by cylib, a startup looking to reduce waste from EV batteries that have reached the end of their life. ➡️ Cylib, which is backed by luxury sports car firm Porsche AG and appliances maker Bosch, on Monday started work on the new site in the town of Dormagen, in the German federal state of North Rhine-Westphalia. ➡️ Cylib says its facility will be the largest end-to-end lithium-ion battery recycling facility in Europe.
