Sometimes you get to be part of something that matters, a lot. 3 weeks ago, my friends at Cosmic Buildings launched their mobile robotic micro-factory in Pacific Palisades, delivering fire-resistant homes designed by customers and built by robots exactly where they're needed most. Let me rewind 5 months... Sasha Jokic reached out asking for help with Cosmic's go-to-market strategy. What started as consulting work with Sasha and Landon Nash became something deeply personal when I witnessed their launch event. 150+ families showed up... most having recently lost everything in the wildfires. Then Sasha shared his story: exactly 30 years ago, his family's home burned down during the civil war. They lost everything and fled to rebuild from scratch. That moment hit different. Here's a founder 6,264 miles away from home, who lived through losing everything, now standing before families facing the same reality, except this time, he is the one offering hope. His team had just delivered the first automated housing solution to help rebuild their community. The emotion in that crowd was something else. These weren't just potential customers; they were neighbors supporting neighbors, asking endless questions about how this new technology could help them get their lives back and do so quickly. What Cosmic is building goes beyond technology. They are making beautiful, resilient housing accessible when communities need it most. And with incredible investors like Tihomir Bajić backing the mission, this is just the beginning. I am grateful to have played a small part in bringing this vision to market. Sometimes the best work you do is helping others change the world. What projects have you worked on that felt bigger than business? --- P.S. Multiple VCs confirmed this was the largest in-person startup launch they'd attended. Having launched my own LeadDelta and a few other software startups, I can say this kind of turnout is extraordinary, and it happens when you're solving something that truly matters.

Sticking to “just business” may convince everyone that you have a perspective SME or scaleup, but capacity for greatness comes from answering the questions: ❓ “Why does the founder care about this problem so much?” And ❓ “Are they ready to spend the next 10 years suffering to build this?” We share how this question was answered by a #Katapult25 startup Cosmic, and its co-founder and CEO Sasha Jokic, as a great example! A good founder's pitch consists of 2 parts: ❓ (Why me?) ↳ “I was 10 when I was displaced by the war in Croatia, which set me on a lifelong journey of building affordable and sustainable housing at scale.” ❓ (Why this problem?) ↳ Homeownership was once the cornerstone of the American dream. Today, it's out of reach for most. ↳ The housing crisis in the U.S. has worsened in the last 30 years. ↳ To address it, Americans need 8 million homes immediately. ↳ Conventional construction is broken. The workforce has declined by 1 million in the past decade, 8 million are missing, and over 30% of today's workforce will retire in the next 10 years. ↳ The young generation doesn't want to work in the industry. ↳ Construction is the only industry with a steadily declining population over the last 3 decades. Only after answering these questions did the founding team (Sasha Jokic and Landon Nash) go for the numbers and show us that they have $2.5M worth of deals in the construction phase, with $36M in concept design.
