Together with Damon Briggs from Frontline, the team discussed the key building blocks for developing an effective child protection system and the pathway for professionalising the social service workforce in Kazakhstan. Our team were also thrilled to accompany Ms Zakiyeva, Ms Zhekenova and Martin Punaks during their visit to the Children, Education and Families Department of the London Borough of Bromley, to exchange best practices and innovation in child protection and social work with its transformation lead, Aneesa Kaprie, and her team. I am really looking forward to presenting at the launch of UNICEF ROSA’s report on the impact of COVID-19 on determinants of child marriage in South Asia this coming Thursday. I worked on this study with colleagues at Coram International. The report helps shed light on how health emergencies can impact a wide range of issues which can lead to child marriage, including disrupted access to education, reduced access to support services (including those addressing SRH and domestic violence), changing migration patterns, heightened financial hardship and deeply entrenched social and gender norms.
Namaste 🙏🏽 How do emergencies such as COVID-19 impact child marriage? While evidence on child marriage is growing, there’s still limited research on how emergencies - like the COVID-19 pandemic - affect the drivers and moderators of child marriage. If you're available on 19 June (13:30–14:30 Nepal time), join us for the launch of the Unmasking Vulnerabilities report. We’ll present key findings and implications for programming - followed by an engaging discussion. The study covered Bangladesh, India and Nepal. * Please scan the QR code in the flyer to register. ---- 🧩 We are working together to prevent child, early, and forced marriages! In collaboration with Coram International, we organized a hybrid validation workshop to share and discuss the initial findings of our assessment study conducted under the UN Joint Program implemented by UNICEF in Türkiye. 📍 At the workshop, we presented the initial findings from the evaluation process and collected feedback to deepen the analysis. This will enable us to more comprehensively demonstrate the program's impact. 🔍 Funded by SIDA and implemented in partnership with UNICEF, UNFPA, and UN Women, this program aims to prevent child, early, and forced marriages and strengthen gender equality. #UNICEF #CEFM #Evaluation #CoramInternational #Tandans #UNJointProgramme
