“There’s no way you and both babies can survive.” That’s what Kaelyn heard at just 16 weeks pregnant, after learning her identical twins had developed twin-twin transfusion syndrome (TTTS) — a rare and life-threatening condition. But Kaelyn didn’t give up hope. Thanks to the skill and innovation of our Fetal Care Center, she underwent complex in-utero surgery that changed everything. Today, her “miracle boys” are thriving toddlers — living proof of what’s possible when advanced medicine meets relentless determination. This is more than a success story — it’s a powerful reminder of the impact of early intervention, multidisciplinary teamwork, and cutting-edge pediatric care. 👉 Read more about Kaelyn’s incredible journey: https://bit.ly/44Yfjjd #ConnecticutChildrens #FetalSurgery #TwinTwinTransfusionSyndrome #MaternalFetalCare #RareDiseases #PatientStory #WomensHealth

🚨 E-Bike Injuries in Kids Are Surging. In just 2 months, Connecticut Children’s treated 24+ children for e-bike injuries—more than we saw in three months last year. 🧠 Head injuries are the most common. 🚴♂️ Many are riding at high speeds with helmets that offer too little protection. Pediatric experts are sounding the alarm—and recommending stronger gear, clearer laws, and better guidance for parents. 📖 Read the full article from our trauma and injury prevention team: https://lnkd.in/evTs9gWD #ConnecticutChildrens #EBikeSafety #InjuryPrevention #ChildHealth #PublicHealth #Pediatrics #HelmetSafety

🌺 Last Friday, we celebrated our 7th annual Ohana Day at Connecticut Children's Medical Center and beyond —a beautiful tradition created by a former patient’s family to honor their son, Andrew, reminding every patient and family that they are never alone. 💖 With colorful leis, thoughtful gifts, and heartfelt moments, we came together to share love, comfort, and connection — in every smile, every hug, and every act of kindness. ✨ #OhanaDay #ConnecticutChildrens #PatientFamilyCare #HospitalLove #PediatricCare

We’re proud to share a groundbreaking achievement in pediatric research and clinical care. 👏 🎉 Together with our partners at UConn Health, Connecticut Children's Research Institute has made history by dosing the first patient in a clinical trial using gene editing to treat GSD1a, a rare and serious metabolic disorder. This marks a world-first in the use of gene editing for this condition — and a powerful step forward in offering hope and new possibilities to children and families facing rare diseases. Congratulations to the incredible research teams at both institutions driving innovation in children’s health. 🥳 ✨💖 🔗 Read more from UConn Health: https://lnkd.in/du_BsQR3 #ConnecticutChildrens #UConnHealth #geneediting #pediatrics #groundbreaking #research #researchmatters

This is health care beyond imagination —addressing the full picture of a child’s well-being. ❤️ Thanks to our Office for Care Coordination and partners like @CTBeds, one local family now has the beds and support they need to rest easier. 🛏️✨ #ConnecticutChildrens #OneTeam #CommunityHealth #SocialDriversOfHealth #CareCoordination #CTBeds #FamilySupport
The Center for Care Coordination, a program of OCCH, believes that when families are connected to the right resources, children thrive. ✨ Recently, Clinical Care Coordinator, Samantha Calhoon, established a connection with CT Beds, a Connecticut-based nonprofit providing free, handmade bed frames, mattresses, bedding, and pillows to families in need 🛏️ Through this collaboration, care coordinators helped a local family with two young children secure safe, comfortable sleeping arrangements, which were delivered and installed in their home earlier this week. It’s one example of how we work to address not only medical needs, but the full range of social and environmental factors that impact a child’s health and well-being. We’re proud to work alongside dedicated partners like CT Beds who share in our mission to support families and strengthen communities across Connecticut. ❤️ #CareCoordination #CommunityHealth #SocialDriversOfHealth #CTBeds #FamilySupport #CommunityPartnership

Our message this weekend is simple: Make a plan. Hand over the keys. Protect the children around you—and the loved ones waiting for you at home. 💖 Because no doctor or nurse ever wants to say, “We did everything we could.” Not one more. 🙏 Connecticut Children’s is committed to 24/7 trauma care, and through our Injury Prevention Center, we’re advancing education, research, and policy to help prevent injuries before they happen. 🔗 Read more about our trauma and injury prevention efforts https://bit.ly/4kp9YXU
As trauma professionals at Connecticut Children's, we see firsthand the devastating consequences of impaired driving, consequences that are preventable. ⚠️ 🎆 With the upcoming 4th of July weekend—a time when celebrations often include travel and festivities—it’s especially important to remember the risks. Our trauma team has joined forces with Healthcare Heroes Against Drunk Driving in support of the "Not One More" campaign. This initiative is a powerful reminder of what’s at stake and a call to action for all of us: plan ahead, arrange a sober ride, and never get behind the wheel under the influence. 🚗 We are proud to stand alongside colleagues across healthcare, trauma care, and injury prevention in this effort. Your work, whether in the trauma bay, the research lab, or the community, is saving lives every day. Let’s continue to advocate, educate, and take action because one more preventable injury or death is one too many. 💙 #NotOneMore #TraumaCare #PublicHealth #InjuryPrevention #SoberDriving #ConnecticutChildrens

🎉 We’re proud to share some big news! All three of our Primary Care locations—Primary Care South, East, and West—have once again earned the prestigious Patient-Centered Medical Home (PCMH) Recognition from the National Committee for Quality Assurance (NCQA). This means our amazing Primary Care teams 👏 had to meet high national standards across dozens of quality measures — from immunizations and behavioral health to managing chronic conditions and preventive care. It’s a big achievement 💞 — and it reflects something even bigger: our commitment to making sure every child receives the very best care, in a way that’s connected, personalized, and focused on their whole health. At Connecticut Children’s, we’re proud to be a health system 100% dedicated to kids — and to families like yours. 💖 #ConnecticutChildrens #BeyondImagination #FamilyFirst #PCMH #PediatricCare #PrimaryCare #KidsHealth
