🌍 Undernutrition is a solvable crisis – but only if we act together. At Global Citizen NOW: Impact Sessions in New York, on the sidelines of the United Nations General Assembly, leaders gathered for the panel ‘From Investment to Impact: Tackling the Nutrition Crisis for Children and Women.’ The discussion, moderated by Jessica Malaty Rivera, MS, featured Baroness Chapman (Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office), Omar Abdi (UNICEF), Dr Gloria J. Balboa (Philippines Ministry of Health), and Anna Hakobyan (Children's Investment Fund Foundation (CIFF), highlighting how the Child Nutrition Fund and its historic Match Challenge of up to US$500 million are helping to double resources, save lives and strengthen systems. The goal is clear: to unite governments, donors and partners behind proven solutions so every child and mother can access the nutrition they need. #GlobalCitizenNOW #UNGA2025 | Stronger Foundations for Nutrition | UNICEF USA

👏 A powerful snapshot of progress – and a shared commitment we are proud to be part of. As a founding partner of the Child Nutrition Fund, the Children's Investment Fund Foundation (CIFF) has been instrumental in enabling a bold new model for nutrition financing – one that empowers governments to lead and scale what works. Together, we’re financing life-saving nutrition for children and unlocking sustainable pathways to end undernutrition in high-need countries. Read the CIFF 2024 Annual Report 👇
When a child has the right nutrition, the positive impacts have rippling effects across health, education, social and economic outcomes. Today, nearly half of all deaths in children under five are linked to undernutrition which is a crisis further intensified by economic insecurity and climate change. Yet, the goal of eliminating child malnutrition is within our grasp. Throughout 2024, our partners worked to accelerate progress and drive meaningful change: ➡️ The UNICEF-led Child Nutrition Fund (CNF) continued to drive crucial domestic investments in tackling malnutrition. In 2024, the CNF matched an additional $27.5 million in government funding, doubling the value of nutrition commodities purchased and enabling life-saving Ready-to-Use Therapeutic Food (RUTF) to reach children with severe acute malnutrition in over 15 countries across Africa and Asia. ➡️ In partnership with the Gates Foundation, the Eleanor Crook Foundation and Kirk Humanitarian, we launched a global investment roadmap to catalyse action and investment in MMS for pregnant women. This roadmap outlines a plan to reach at least 260 million women in 45 high-burden countries with MMS over seven years. ➡️ The Africa Leaders Malaria Alliance (ALMA) significantly expanded its efforts to institutionalise accountability and track health and nutrition progress at the community level across 14 African countries. In 2024, these countries collectively invested over $78 million based on ALMA's scorecard recommendations, improving health and nutrition service delivery across the continent. “The cost of inaction is staggering – morally and economically.” At the Philanthropy Asia Summit in Singapore, UNICEF’s Regional Director for East Asia and the Pacific, June Kunugi, underscored the urgent need to scale up solutions that prevent and treat child undernutrition. But doing that requires serious investment. That’s where the Child Nutrition Fund plays a vital role – mobilizing capital to expand proven interventions, from maternal nutrition and food fortification to the early detection of wasting. https://lnkd.in/g7iEkcCy Philanthropy Asia Alliance | UNICEF East Asia and Pacific
