Hello CHAOTICs and CHAOTICS-to-be! CHAOSS will be taking a little holiday/end-of-year break from meetings until January 6, 2025. We do this every year to protect our contributors from burnout, because breaks are important! We are still around unofficially on Slack, but otherwise we will see you in 2025. ❤️

We collaborated with the Sovereign Tech Agency, NGI Commons, and The Linux Foundation on a paper and presentation about measuring the impact of public funding. This STA blog post does a great job of summing up the research, and you can find a link to the paper from the blog post. We hope you enjoy it!

Relicensing of open source projects and the forks that result from those license changes have been a hot topic within the CHAOSS community (and elsewhere). In this Data in the Hallway Episode, Ray Paik and Daniël van Eeden interview Dawn Foster in a lively 30 minute discussion about the topic! If you want more details, there is also a more academic paper that was presented at the OpenForum Academy Symposium, "The New Dynamics of Open Source: Relicensing, Forks, and Community Impact": https://lnkd.in/eywdBEac
