Despite rising national e-cigarette sales, California, Massachusetts and New York all showed a decrease in sales of youth-appealing, non-tobacco flavored e-cigarettes such as fruit, candy, mint, menthol and desserts declined after statewide restrictions went into effect. During a recent webinar hosted by the Public Health Accreditation Board, our President and CEO Dr. Judy Monroe answered a question asking what the top issues were facing public health in the next ten years. Dr. Monroe was joined by Tulsa Health Department's Executive Director Bruce Dart and American Public Health Association's Executive Director Georges C. Benjamin as a panel of experts in public health accreditation. “Our greatest challenge is engagement. The engagement of the public, starting with our own families, making sure that they understand. What we must not do is lose the gains that public health has made over the decades." - Dr. Judy Monroe

This year, as you shop for Thanksgiving, it’s important to remember the millions of Americans who struggle with hunger, including the families who have limited access to affordable, nutritious food and the many individuals who struggle with diet-related diseases. Through collaboration with local partners working in communities across the country—organizations like Dream of Wild Health, Urban Growers Collective, Manna Food Center and Nayak Farms—we’re working to ensure all Americans can enjoy a healthy Thanksgiving meal with the ones they love and nutritious food throughout the year. Wishing you a happy Thanksgiving!
