Is the state of the world stressing you out? Climate anxiety is a normal and valid response. Remember: you are not alone, and it’s not possible to pour from an empty cup. Taking care of yourself is what’s needed to take care of others and the planet. #WorldMentalHealthDay Artwork by: Wyda Swestika

C40 is a network of nearly 100 world-leading cities taking urgent action to confront the climate crisis. 🌳 🚴♀️
About us
C40 is a network of nearly 100 mayors of the world’s leading cities who are working to deliver the urgent action needed right now to confront the climate crisis and create a future where everyone, everywhere, can thrive. Mayors of C40 cities are committed to using a science-based and people-focused approach to limit global heating in line with the Paris Agreement and build healthy, equitable, and resilient communities. Through a Global Green New Deal, mayors are working alongside a broad coalition of representatives from labour, business, the youth climate movement and civil society to go further and faster than ever before. The current co-chairs of C40 are Mayor of London Sadiq Khan and Mayor of Freetown Yvonne Aki-Sawyerr. Three-term Mayor of New York City Michael R. Bloomberg serves as President of the Board. C40’s work is made possible by our three strategic funders: Bloomberg Philanthropies, Children’s Investment Fund Foundation (CIFF), and Realdania.

Latin America is proving that walking and cycling can do much more than move people. By promoting climate-friendly modes of transport, cities in the region are tackling inequality, creating good green jobs and improving health. C40 Cities’ new report spotlights how Bogotá is making school journeys safer, Fortaleza is supporting recyclers with green jobs and Lima is cutting air pollution. These initiatives show how people-centred transport can build more just and resilient cities. London has achieved the impossible: its air quality levels just met legal nitrogen dioxide limits for the first time. Experts said this would take 193 years, but under Mayor of London Sadiq Khan’s visionary leadership, it was accomplished in just nine years. This is the kind of decisive climate action that earns recognition. We’re also celebrating Mayor Khan’s inclusion on The Independent’s Climate 100 List 2025 alongside global leaders like Mike Bloomberg, demonstrating how bold city policies can improve and even save lives. When nature's allowed to thrive, cities can too. The reward: cleaner air, cooler streets and happier people. Nature-based solutions help urban spaces and communities address the impacts of climate hazards such as extreme heat and flooding, and they are the natural assets we need to utilise more. Here's how cities can maintain these solutions and commit long-term to making an impact: https://lnkd.in/gRCyUZ-b

🌍 To meet global climate goals, national governments can’t work alone. Cities are already delivering cleaner air, greener jobs, and more resilient communities – and they’re ready to scale up solutions. Partnering with cities means faster progress, stronger results, and benefits for people everywhere. COP30 is the moment to put local climate action at the heart of national ambition.
