Partner Jörg Usinger und Jasmina Herrmann, have successfully completed the Circular Building Qualification Program and are now officially qualified planners for circular construction! The final highlight was Module 5, which included an inspiring excursion to Basel last Friday - led by Dipl.-Ing. Kerstin Müller, expert in circular building and program lead. There, they visited several pioneering projects on the Lysbüchel site, (https://lnkd.in/eCTaeVsg, https://lnkd.in/dp--7z6i, https://lnkd.in/gDGSmbXf), showcasing innovative approaches to deconstruction and transformation within the circular building sector. The day offered valuable insights from different stakeholders working in circular construction – from planners to developers – and showed how circularity is already being put into practice. For our office, this means even more expertise, new perspectives, and fresh inspiration to integrate circular design strategies into our projects. We're excited to bring this knowledge into our projects! A big thank you to the organizers Architektenkammer Baden-Württemberg for this highly relevant and practical training program!

Groundbreaking for the new Campus Steinfurt at FH Münster University of Applied Sciences. The groundbreaking ceremony for the new Campus Steinfurt marks an important milestone in the development of FH Münster University of Applied Sciences. The new laboratory buildings C and Q form the first stage of a comprehensive master plan aimed at modernizing and interconnecting the campus. The design for Campus Steinfurt creates a transparent and interconnected environment for research and learning. The new laboratory buildings C and Q emphasize openness and communication through light-filled interiors, terraces with large planters, and landscaped courtyards. With its reused façade elements and carefully detailed materiality, the ensemble establishes a contemporary and sustainable identity that connects the university with its urban surroundings. Building C forms the northern anchor of the campus, housing laboratories and teaching spaces organized around two open atria. Light-filled interiors and terraces with large planters create visual connections across all levels, fostering collaboration and an inviting atmosphere for research. Building Q accommodates the Department of Mechanical Engineering within a compact, efficient structure. Its reused façade elements and landscaped terraces express a clear, robust architectural language that unites technical precision with sustainable design. Throwback to this year’s European Congress on Timber Construction (EBH) in Cologne! Our partner Jörg Usinger contribute to the program with a lecture on the timber rooftop extension at the Extension Fachhochschulzentrum, Münster University of Applied Sciences – a project showing how we can add space on top in sustainable ways. Under the congress theme "Efficient Building with Timber in Urban Spaces", more than 700 professionals from architecture, engineering, and construction came together to discuss current developments, legal frameworks, and pioneering projects in timber construction. Thanks to FORUM HOLZBAU and the Architektenkammer Nordrhein-Westfalen for creating this event. Photos: ©️ Architektenkammer NRW

What innovations in construction can lead to smarter, more resource-conscious buildings? The upcoming half-day sia conference "Low Emission No Emission" takes a closer look at this question – with practical project examples, expert input, and interdisciplinary exchange. Our partner Angie Müller-Puch, will share insights into the Smart Living Lab project. The Smart Living Lab, located in the emerging bluefactory district in Fribourg (Switzerland), provides space for experimental, interdisciplinary research in the field of resource-efficient construction. The building serves both as a research facility and as a research instrument for the development of new climate-neutral construction methods. Experimental areas and transparent workspaces, combined with integrated winter gardens and a rooftop terrace, create an inspiring research environment. Together with a central atrium, these spaces can be adapted to seasonal changes and make optimal use of passive resources such as daylight and natural ventilation. The modular façade is also a key element of this adaptive concept. The result is a building that responds to current and future climate conditions as well as to diverse user needs – a true Smart Living Lab.
