  • "Construction still looks like it did fifty years ago. There has been almost no technological leap in heavy equipment workflows. Operators sit in machines and execute repetitive tasks for hours at a time. Output is inconsistent because it depends on who is in the seat that day... Whereas other industries have adopted robotics, automation, data feedback loops, and AI-driven optimization, construction has remained tied to muscle and memory." Meet Bedrock Robotics: Autonomy for the machines that build our world. 🚜 👉 Bedrock retrofits existing heavy construction equipment with an autonomy kit (sensors, compute, and ML) that turns excavators into fully autonomous machines in a single day. Contractors can switch between autonomous and manual operation anytime, unlocking safer, more consistent, 24/7 productivity. 💰 Usage-based pricing tied to the amount of work completed by Bedrock-powered machines. 📈 Raised ~$80M across seed and Series A from Eclipse, 8VC, Two Sigma, Nvidia’s NVentures, Waymo’s former CEO John Krafcik, and others. Testing underway with full deployments planned for 2026. 👬 Boris Sofman – Co-Founder & CEO Kevin Peterson – Co-Founder & CTO Tom Eliaz – Co-Founder & VP of Engineering Ajay Gummalla – Co-Founder & VP of Engineering Discover how Bedrock is bringing autonomy to the foundation of modern infrastructure 👇 https://lnkd.in/gM5ndKUq

  • Last week, The Robot Report published a piece about how we're approaching autonomous construction at Bedrock Robotics. Boris Sofman, our CEO, shared insights with Mike Oitzman about embracing machine learning models vs. traditional robotics heuristics: "In the same way that an LLM spits out tokens of words … we’re spitting out a trajectory for a high-dimensional machine and body." What could this mean for construction? Our design partners, like Sundt Construction's Dan Green, put it perfectly: skilled operators aren't interested in months of monotonous mass excavation. This technology could handle the repetitive truck loading while crews focus on specialized problems where their expertise is critical. Thank you to The Robot Report for capturing our vision of how machine learning and aggressive iteration—from simulation to field testing in under a year—could reshape the future of how we build. • 65,000 cubic yards moved on a single 130-acre site. Not with new equipment. Not with massive capital investment. But with an autonomy retrofit that transforms how construction sites operate. Our team at Bedrock Robotics just completed the construction industry's largest-known supervised autonomy testing deployment with partner Sundt Construction. With the same excavators, same workflows, and same dump truck loading process their crews already use. Dan Green, Senior Project Manager at Sundt, captured it perfectly: "The biggest challenge we face isn't just finding operators—it's keeping experienced ones engaged when we need them for months of repetitive earthmoving in remote locations." This is why Austin Bridge & Road, Haydon, and Maverick Constructors just joined Zachry Construction Corporation, Champion Site Prep, Inc., and Capitol Aggregates, Inc in our partnership program. They see what's coming and are helping to develop the technology that will shape the next hundred years of building in America. Imagine construction sites that could: ✔️ Operate through 115° heat ✔️ Run 24/7 on repetitive tasks ✔️ Free skilled operators for complex work ✔️Track every cubic yard moved in real-time We're not there yet. But the future of construction is just around the corner, and we're proud to be developing these innovations hand-in-hand on active sites with accomplished contractors to ensure autonomous capabilities are designed with insight into the full spectrum of challenges that crews face daily. Thanks to Jeff Yoders at Engineering News-Record for the coverage of this milestone. Link to full story in the comments.

  • We're still buzzing from our inaugural Builders Summit. Last week at Proto-Town in Lockhart, Texas, we brought together innovative contractors and tech pioneers to reimagine how we'll build tomorrow. The consensus? Autonomous construction equipment is going to multiply what skilled operators can accomplish on job sites — working more safely, tackling more projects, and delivering higher quality results. Retrofitting existing machines with autonomy opens doors we couldn't walk through before. With partners like Sundt Construction, Zachry Construction Corporation, Champion Site Prep, Inc., Capitol Aggregates, Inc and more, we're not just theorizing about autonomous construction. We're building it together. Thanks to everyone who took time out to join us for two days of inspiring conversation and connection. We can't wait for what's next.

Today's guest is bringing AI and machine learning from the streets of San Francisco to the job sites building our future. Boris Sofman, Co-founder and CEO of Bedrock Robotics, shared what Waymo taught him about scaling AI in the real world, how automation can solve the construction labor crisis, and why he sees AI in the physical world as the next industrial revolution. Catch Boris and Cody on the latest episode of Inevitable, available wherever you get your pods.

  • "There’s a massive opportunity here." Taimur Rashid, Managing Director of the Amazon Web Services (AWS) Generative AI Innovation Center recently spoke with John Koetsier at Forbes about Bedrock's participation in its 2025 Physical AI Fellowship program. A focus of their interview? Why now is the time for industries to embrace both generalist and highly-specialized robots as necessary to meet demand. "The opportunity is huge right now. Thanks to the confluence of three major forces: increasing labor shortages in wealthier countries as the population ages, falling hardware costs for sensors, cameras, processors and motors for robots, and increasingly capable generative and agentic AI that are helping us train robots and give them intelligence much easier than before."
