Who hasn’t been captivated by the stars in their childhood—dreaming of rockets, distant galaxies, and the mysteries of the universe? Thanks to Avetik Grigoryan, for many children in Armenia, that fascination has transformed from a dream into a reality rooted in education, innovation, and hands-on experience. For these students—and eventually, young professionals—space is no longer just something to gaze at; it’s something to build for and work in every day. Avetik Grigoryan is the co-founder of AYAS Space Research Company, Bazoomq Space Research Laboratory, and the Armenian Model Rocketry Association. Through these initiatives, he and his students nurture a deep interest in aviation, astronomy, and space exploration from a young age. In the shared video, Avetik takes us through the difficult but inspiring journey that led to the creation of Hayasat-1—Armenia’s first domestically built satellite—and the bold steps now being taken toward the development of the more advanced Hayasat-2. He speaks passionately about the need to invest in education that builds a strong technological future for Armenia and stresses the importance of creating a seamless chain—from the classroom to the workplace—to turn dreams into sustainable progress. Yesterday, on April 26, 2025, Armenia’s first domestic satellite, Hayasat-1, developed by Bazoomq and Center for Scientific Innovation and Education, crossed the Kármán Line (the conventional boundary of space) one last time and completed its mission. We are deeply proud of Hayasat-1 and grateful to all who supported this historic journey. This is only the beginning. Since the launch, due to atmospheric drag, the natural orbit decay of our satellite, as well as that of all satellites in low Earth orbits, occurred faster than expected because of the record-high solar activity in these years, which made the atmosphere hotter, inflated it, and increased the drag. Nevertheless, Hayasat-1 accomplished its mission and gave us the necessary valuable information and experience, which will allow us to move forward towards greater and more ambitious goals. 🇦🇲🇺🇸Today, #Bazoomq Space Research Lab hosted space-tech experts from the United States and representatives from the U.S. Embassy in Armenia, who learned about the Lab’s projects, including the development of the second satellite, and discussed Armenia’s regulatory framework for space activities. The visit also highlighted the importance of space law in ensuring compliance with international standards. The US experts were also introduced to the DeepSat startup and its plans. The guests took a short tour of the Laboratory premises and its ground station, and at the end of the visit, agreed to deepen collaboration and maintain ongoing communication. ________ 🇦🇲🇺🇸 Այսօր #Բազումք Տիեզերական հետազոտությունների լաբորատորիան հյուրընկալեց տիեզերական տեխնոլոգիաների ոլորտի ԱՄՆ-ից ժամանած փորձագետների և Հայաստանում ԱՄՆ դեսպանատան ներկայացուցիչների, ովքեր ծանոթացան լաբորատորիայի նախագծերին, այդ թվում՝ երկրորդ արբանյակի մշակման գործընթացին, ինչպես նաև քննարկեցին Հայաստանում տիեզերական գործունեության կարգավորման իրավական դաշտը։ Այցի ընթացքում նաև ընդգծվեց տիեզերական իրավունքի կարևորությունը միջազգային չափանիշներին համապատասխանության ապահովման գործում։ ԱՄՆ փորձագետները ծանոթացան նաև DeepSat ստարտափին և նրա ծրագրերին։ Հյուրերը շրջայց կատարեցին լաբորատորիայի տարածքում, տեսան արբանյակային կապի վերգետնյա կայանը, իսկ այցի ավարտին պայմանավորվեցին շարունակել և խորացնել փոխգործակցությունը։
