About us
Avikus, a start-up company that specializes in developing autonomous navigation solutions, was founded in January ’21 by Hyundai Heavy Industries Group which is the world’s best shipbuilder. The name Avikus comes from Viking’s old name, AVVIKER, which means to be a pioneer in autonomous ship technology. In 2020, we succeeded in commercializing the world's first deep-learning based navigation assistant system. Since February 2021, we have been supplying navigation assistant systems to ships contracted by HHI Group. The company that developed the world's first AI driving assistance system (ADAS) monopolized the driving assistance system market based on a large amount of data obtained at the beginning of the business. AVIKUS, an autonomous vessel, plans to supply navigation assistance solutions to more than 100 vessels annually for the first time in the world. Like autonomous-driving cars, ship autonomous navigation technology is the crystallization of cutting-edge technology that combines sensor convergence and artificial intelligence-based cognitive technologies such as radar, AIS, vision, and lidar, and ship dynamics-based judgment and control technology. Avikus is looking for talented people to commercialize the world's first autonomous navigation technology with the world's best autonomous navigation engineers.

We were honored to co-host, with our partners at ZeroNorth, an exclusive gathering of maritime leaders in Athens. This event marked the next chapter in our collaboration, moving beyond discussion to showcase the "autonomous optimisation engine". The challenge is clear: there is a multi-million dollar gap between an optimal plan and an optimal voyage. The solution is not more software; it is seamless integration. ZeroNorth provides the powerful "Brain"—the optimal plan. Avikus provides the "Senses and Nervous System" – the autonomous platform that executes that plan flawlessly on the bridge. This is operational excellence. Our HiNAS Control platform turns the plan into reality, delivering autonomous collision avoidance, real-time RPM optimization, and verified fuel savings. A sincere thank you to Soren Christian Meyer and the entire ZeroNorth team, and to the Greek shipping leaders who joined us for this insightful evening. It was a pleasure for our CEO, Dohyeong Lim, and CSO, Jungwoo Seo, to share this vision. Together, we are not just planning for a smarter, greener future—we are building the autonomous engine to execute it. Navigate Smarter. Operate Safer. #Avikus #ZeroNorth #AutonomousNavigation #OperationalExcellence #Maritime #Innovation #Decarbonization #HiNAS #HDHyundai #Athens

How does the maritime industry make its multi-billion-dollar investment in "Clean Energy" hardware operational and financially viable? The answer is "Smart Solutions." At the recent Marine Money Korea 2025 forum, our CSO, Jungwoo Seo, joined leaders from Citi, Samsung Heavy Industries, Hanwha Ocean, Ocean Network Express, and ING to discuss this exact challenge. His key message: 'Clean Energy' hardware—like new engines and fuels—is only half the solution. The other, more critical half is the software that makes it efficient and safe. This is the core mission of Avikus: to put the operator's Plan into Action.' As Jungwoo explained, our HiNAS AI co-pilot creates the optimal voyage plan, calculates the safest, most efficient route, and executes it autonomously. This isn't a future concept. It is a commercial, validated solution that provides the verifiable proof of fuel savings and enhanced safety that shipowners, financiers, and insurers now demand. The 'Smart Ship' is the catalyst that makes the 'Green Ship' possible. Thank you, Marine Money, for hosting this vital discussion. #Avikus #HiNAS #NavigateSmarterOperateSafer #MarineMoney #Decarbonization #Digitization #Maritime #Shipping #AutonomousNavigation #SmartSolutions #AI #FuelSavings #Safety https://lnkd.in/gZSfjrUK
