Our design blog just got a refresh. 🎨 Design shapes the future of the web, and this is our space to explore what that future could be. We're building tools for personal expression, rethinking how commerce shows up online, and designing the connective tissue of the open web. We speak to creators, designers, and visionaries who share our passion for making. Through stories and weekly posts, we hope to spark new ideas and meaningful connections. 🫶 Subscribe to follow along: automattic.design/

As part of our 20th anniversary, we’re sharing stories from the people who make Automattic what it is, like Anne McCarthy, who has been with us for over a decade. Here’s her story 👇 “I’ve spent over a third of my life working for Automattic. I have felt each of these years deeply—the good, the bad, the ugly. It’s rare to have a job that enables me to both do great work and have a truly great life. This job has given me extraordinary moments: the chance to build a real relationship with my birthmom, meet my half siblings, and be there to bury my brother. I’ve watched cousins grow up, spent sacred time with my grandma, and taken my mom to over 12 countries. I’ve shown up for friends and family in big and small moments—even in the middle of the night to watch one compete on American Ninja Warrior. I’ve lived in many different places and grown to see the world through a global lens. As a queer person, that freedom has been radical, life-giving, and far beyond what I imagined was possible for my life. Without Automattic, my world would be so much smaller. This open-ended time with those I love is the gift of a lifetime—as is getting to work hard on long-term problems with people who care deeply about the future of the web. It’s changed me in ways I can’t fully express. I hope to keep using this privilege to lift others up, pay it forward, and leave Automattic better than I found it.” 💙💙💙💙💙💙💙💙

  • The Buckminster Fuller Institute is a living archive of one of the 20th century’s most visionary thinkers. To carry that legacy forward, BFI needed a digital platform as resilient and future-ready as Fuller’s designs. Enter Automattic. With a new site built on WordPress, hosted on Pressable, and powered by Jetpack CRM, BFI.org now has the infrastructure to match its mission. 🎥 Watch how their transformation unfolded:
