Shailesh Davey, CEO and Co-founder, Zoho Corp., outlined the technical focus and broader mission: "Our Kottarakkara office will be dedicated to enhancing our R&D projects in various fields starting with AI and Robotics. Apart from our own work in these fields, we also will be collaborating with like-minded deep-tech organisations to further amplify our efforts. Our goal remains the same: to develop these capabilities in India and make the country self-reliant in terms of critical technology. We are grateful for the support from the government and the local communities to make this endeavour a success." The strategic architecture of this expansion reveals sophisticated ecosystem thinking. The 250-capacity campus focuses initially on AI and robotics research, while the acquisition of ASIMOV Robotics, founded in 2012, brings specialized expertise in robotic solutions for hazardous and repetitive industrial scenarios. The partnership with Kerala Startup Mission creates a Deep Tech Product Studio that will unite startups and organizations dedicated to advanced research and product development. Perhaps most significantly, Zoho has established R&D associations with multiple entities including Boson Motors India, Vipus Advanced Materials, vTitan Corporation Pvt. Rural Kerala just became India's newest deep tech innovation hub, and the implications extend far beyond one company's expansion strategy. Zoho Corp. has inaugurated its new R&D campus in Kottarakkara, simultaneously acquiring Asimov Robotics and partnering with Kerala Startup Mission to establish a comprehensive deep tech ecosystem. The ceremonial inauguration drew significant leadership attention, with Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan and Finance Minister K N Balagopal officiating alongside Zoho's founding team including Shailesh Davey, Tony Thomas, and Sridhar Vembu. The presence of dignitaries such as Shri Kodikunnil Suresh, Member of Parliament, and Dr. S Somanath, former chairman of ISRO, underscored the strategic importance of this initiative.
