Happy National Pumpkin Day! 🎃 Did you know that pumpkins make for the perfect fall accessory? This little pumpkin is actually a netsuke—a traditional Japanese ornament used with kimonos. 👘 Netsukes were essential for securing small containers called inro ("seal caskets") to a silk cord, making it easier to carry personal items. While they come in many shapes, this pumpkin-shaped netsuke is an autumnal favorite, bringing a touch of seasonal charm to traditional attire. 🏛️ Plan your visit to see more gourd lookin’ netsukes in the collection galleries: https://lnkd.in/g8_ateex #AsianArtMuseum #Netsuke #NationalPumpkinDay
