Esports is momentous In the first of its kind, arguably the first ever. Army West Point Esports was privileged to have a Senior Cadet from the United States Military Academy at West Point, choose to conduct his commissioning ceremony, pinning of Second Lieutenant rank, in the Esports facility. As you read this please understand the impact of this. The pinning ceremony, Oath of Office and the First Salute are a highly coveted moment for Cadets. For 2LT Rocca to choose the Esports facility as the location for this event demonstrates the impact that this program has on our Cadets. In his speech to his family and friends he shared the reasoning for selecting the CAVE for his ceremony and it came down to friendships and comaredrie. Army West Point Esports strives to be a place for all Cadets to grow, develop and build lifelong friendships. Our group of Cadets encompasses nearly 70 Cadets from a variety of majors, all of which have found a connection in gaming. Army West Point Esports is one of the top collegiate competitive programs in the world. Not because of championships.... because its sole mission is to enhance the Cadet experience in all phases. Win with Honor Kevin Johnson, Cody Beck, Matthew S. Wargaming is at the front in key applications of Cadet learning. Visualization of the future fight can be just as dynamic and the skills needed to find strategies that work. Check out Department of Military Instruction and their work to enhance Cadet readiness.
Today, 𝐃𝐒𝟒𝟕𝟓: 𝐅𝐨𝐫𝐞𝐜𝐚𝐬𝐭𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐆𝐚𝐦𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐢𝐧 𝐃𝐞𝐜𝐢𝐬𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐌𝐚𝐤𝐢𝐧𝐠, discussed wargaming as an educational tool. The class examined the Strategy Development Model and introduced various types of wargames that are used to help test and validate strategies that implement a whole-of-government approach. The cadets got hands on experience playing some wargames themselves, including one created by Defense and Strategic Studies instructor, MAJ Matthew Revels! Titled ‘𝐑𝐢𝐦𝐥𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐑𝐢𝐯𝐚𝐥𝐫𝐲’ this wargame focuses on US and PRC competition for influence in the Indo-Pacific region.
