U.S. Army Contracting Command-Rock Island’s Home Base hosted a Contracting Development Program (CDP)-wide on-site Engagement Event in Heritage Hall, July 14. This event brought together fellows, trainers, and leadership across the CDP footprint, including rotating fellows and Home Base fellows, to foster networking, collaboration, and professional growth. Ms. Lynda Armer, executive director, ACC-RI, kicked off the event with inspiring words of encouragement and appreciation for the fellows and their contributions, while David Burke, director of ACC-RI’s Contracting Optimization, Resources and Enrichment (CORE) Directorate, provided insights into the recent restructure of the CORE Directorate and its evolving mission. The event also featured a panel with Munitions Readiness Directorate employees Lana Graw, branch chief; Ben Styvaert, contracting officer; and Sam Hall, contract specialist and fellow. Together they shared valuable perspectives on integrating into new branches, effective collaboration, and highlighted their professional experiences. Jon Martel, branch chief, Contract Administration Branch, presented an overview of the branch’s functions – including property, quality and contact administration training teams –highlighting its role and impact within ACC-RI. Exciting news on how we #WinEveryDay! Earlier this week, The US Army announced the award of a $635 million fixed-price-with-economic-price-adjustment contract to MSM Group North America to design, build, and commission the Future Artillery Complex, or FAC, at the Iowa Army Ammunition Plant. Working with Joint Program Executive Office Armaments & Ammunition – Project Lead Joint Services partners, employees with U.S. Army Contracting Command-Rock Island Arsenal's Munitions Readiness Division made the award on Aug. 15 for the new complex, with the intent of boosting production of 155 mm artillery shells – an essential munition that has been in high demand following shipments to Ukraine and Israel. The facility has an estimated completion date of August 2029 and will use robotics to assemble and pack munitions. This is part of the U.S. Army's broader effort to modernize production and increase monthly output, as well as a vital part the United States Department of Defense priority of modernizing the aging industrial base. Members of ACC-RI’s Cyber and Cloud IT Directorate attended the Technology Readiness Experimentation (T-REX) event at Camp Atterbury, Indiana, Aug. 13-14. The event accelerates the development, evaluation, and delivery of capabilities directly to the warfighter in accordance with the Secretary of the United States Department of Defense's strategic direction of increasing warfighter lethality while rapidly fielding emerging technologies.  ACC-RI has been pivotal in supporting the Office of the Under Secretary of Defense for Research and Engineering in getting uncrewed systems and components into rapid prototyping. The attending employees were able to watch demonstrations of the Low-Cost Uncrewed Combat Attack System (LUCAS) prototype, as well as other quickly evolving technologies. ACC-RI knows how to #WinEveryDay and our Strategic IT Directorate proves it, with the recent US Army contract award for the Army-wide Enterprise License Agreement (ELA) on behalf of U.S. Army PEO Enterprise. This ELA intends on achieving efficiencies for the Army by consolidating all orders for Salesforce software licenses and support, resulting in a MAJOR impact to rapid and efficient acquisition of licenses. Ryan Oliver, contracting officer, and Corey Schaefer, contract specialist, from the Munitions Readiness Directorate at Army Contracting Command- Rock Island were responsible for awarding a $44.9 million contract to General Dynamics Ordnance and Tactical Systems for a new Load, Assemble, and Pack facility in Camden, Arkansas.
