Ian Pitzman has worked in commercial fishing for 40 years. An AgWest Farm Credit customer, he operates his family’s salmon-fishing business and a fleet of 10 multipurpose vessels in Bristol Bay, Alaska. 🎣 Ian salmon fishes with his children for a month during the summer. For the other 11 months, he manages 10 fishing boats that catch crabs, cod, and more. 🎣 Throughout his career, Ian has diversified risk by participating in several different fisheries. “Fishermen are no strangers to volatility," Ian said. "That’s why we like working with the people at AgWest. They’re farm-focused, so they understand the ups and downs. They appreciate what fishermen go through because essentially, we’re harvesters of the sea.” Read Ian's story here: https://lnkd.in/eeGSArtj

  • Knowledge is an investment that honors where we’ve been and prepares us for the future.   In agriculture - a field shaped by complexity, risk and reward - knowledge is more than an asset. It’s an investment. One that fuels growth, builds trust and strengthens communities.   Whether you're making decisions for today or shaping generational legacies, the right insights at the right time matter. That’s why we believe in sitting down together, sharing stories and building understanding - because confident decisions start with shared knowledge.   Our fall issue of West Connect is packed with stories and resources that honor where we’ve been and prepare us for what’s ahead. 📚💡👇 https://lnkd.in/gC3TX2rH

  • Meet our 2025 New Producer Grant winners!   Last week, we honored 30 incredible recipients of AgWest’s New Producer Grant during our virtual recognition ceremony. These emerging producers - from goat farms and microgreens to Angus cattle and squab - are bringing vision and passion to their work, driving agriculture forward.   The New Producer Grant is part of our AgVision program, created to support young, beginning and small producers who have a clear vision and solid plans, but need help overcoming financial hurdles. Each recipient received $15,000 to kickstart their agricultural journey - and their stories are nothing short of inspiring.   Join us in congratulating this year’s recipients! 👏👏👏   Stay tuned - we’ll be sharing more stories from these changemakers soon.

  • Salem’s BBQ tradition is still sizzling. 🍔 🌭 The Salem Credit Resolution team has been hosting an annual BBQ lunch for the staff every year since the 1990s. After 30+ years, team name, staff, and office locations have changed, but the tradition still continues! Retirees, outside counsel, and staff are all invited to enjoy freshly grilled burgers and hot dogs!    At AgWest, relationships are at the heart of everything we do. Whether it’s with our customers or with one another, we believe trust and connection are the foundation of success. Agriculture is built on relationships - and so are we.
