How do you build an Employee Engagement community?

What I'm doing now in my org is getting people with similar mindset and purpose towards identified communities like CSR, Environment, diveristy, bringing together, gamifying the activities, setting metrics and growing those communities internally and goal is to get alumni as well. Giving them ownership and rewarding them will help in improving the engagement and achieive community goals.

In my career, I've learned that employee engagement goes beyond surveys and rewards. It's about creating belonging, purpose. 1.Our leaders set the tone by actively participating. 2.We defined a mission to show why the community exists and its goals. 3.We shared stories, challenges, and news to keep everyone engaged. 4.We chose a user-friendly platform for easy participation. 5.Diverse voices and perspectives were encouraged. 6.Regular feedback improved the community to meet employee needs. 8.Recognition & Rewards 9.Courses and skill development empowered employees. 10.Employee-Led Initiatives 11.Social Events 12.We tracked engagement levels and adapted our approach.

These groups are often the BEST place to deliver training and development programs. These employees engage here because they want to, not because they have to. Look for unique training solutions (sorry, not your typical snoozzzzy programs) - professional speakers to do virtual keynotes or online programs and courses developed by real humans who know a thing or two. You can even use these groups as test groups for these programs. If they love them, then have these employees help advocate and help you launch the programs to the rest of the company. Others win + being part of this will keep this group stay engaged like one big engagement merry-go-round!

I've found that the best way to approach this is to start with a low bar for entry into a community. Here are the 4 steps: 1. Task someone with high emotional intelligence (EQ) to head this project. 2. Create a place for employees to interact. In our remote/hybrid world, tools like Slack or Microsoft Teams work great. 3. Make the agenda something universal. I've labeled channel purposes as simple as "daily dose of something good". Nothing political or purposeful here. 4. Take the lead in positive interactive creating content, initiatives, etc. A funny meme. A helpful resource. A cute cat video. The group can then be segmented into subgroups with a more specific focus. Repeat the process. #ergmasterclass #ileadwithlove #howtowin

Within this community, you can establish mentorship programs pairing experienced or senior employees with newcomers or those seeking career guidance. How cool would that be? Mentorship fosters professional growth and creates a supportive network within the organisation. It will help as well with talent retention and build strong bonds within the company.

Understand the pulse of your employees through regular surveys this would enable us to get the maximum reach for any employee engagement initiatives. Implement the suggestions given by the employee and send a special thanks note. These Might seem like a small steps but these small stones would contribute to make your company's foundation strong.

In my years of experience, cultivating an Employee Engagement community requires a thoughtful approach. Start by fostering open communication, encouraging employees to share their ideas & concerns. Create a positive work culture that values teamwork, recognition & personal growth. Regularly seek feedback & act upon it to demonstrate that their voices matter. Provide opportunities for employees to collaborate whether through team-building activities, workshops/mentorship programs. Recognize & celebrate achievements to boost morale. Ultimately building an Engagement community involves nurturing an environment where employees feel valued, supported & connected to both their work, their peers ensuring their active participation & commitment.
