    Summary:
Workshop facilitation, board of directors oversight, consulting for nonprofit organizations, diversity/anti-racism training, labor arbitration, mediation, crisis intervention counseling, employee relations, volunteer coordination, electoral campaign management, website creation and maintenance, video editing I founded the Mariposa Men's Wellness Institute in St. Louis, Missouri in 2003 to expand the public awareness of men's emotional wellness, with a primary emphasis on the obstacles faced by adult male sexual abuse survivors. My experience with the men's movement had been formed during my years in New Mexico. I had been a facilitator at the annual New Mexico Men's Wellness Conference, held each year at Ghost Ranch near Abiqui, and President of the Board of Directors of Men's Network Press from 1993-96. One of the most troubling limitations I saw with the men's movement, both in New Mexico and nationally, was that it focused its efforts primarily on white, college-educated, socially liberal, professionally-employed males. The problem is that this group represents a very small 'slice' of the male population in the United States; and more importantly, by failing to move beyond that group, the men's movement was not having a significant impact on the larger American culture nor, obviously, an impact on international perspectives on responsible manhood. I want to change that. My own background has involved a wide range of aptitudes, including work on over 65 Democratic Party campaigns since 1978, service on over 30 community boards, and a general comfort with "getting the word out". Hence, with that skill set, my goal has been to manifest paths by which men of color, Native American men, blue-collar males, sexual abuse survivors, gay and transgender males, men who are members of various sexual identity and orientation groups, and women who care about their male partners can have access to the positive emotional health messages of the men's movement. -------------------------- I have a two-fold professional goal direction: to get my Mariposa Men's Wellness Institute funded, so that I can focus upon it exclusively, and to work in mid-management of another existing nonprofit organization in the social service delivery area until such funding for MMWI is manifested.
