LinkedIn APIs allow you to integrate LinkedIn features into your web site or web application. You have control over the interfaces you build, drawing from a broad array of LinkedIn APIs, including getting profiles, first degree connections, searching, network updates, and sending messages. While the APIs give you more control and greater options for integration than the widgets, they require you write more code for yourself.
LinkedIn does not currently have a public program for the APIs. We evaluate requests to use LinkedIn APIs and work with partners who have clearly compelling value to our users and who can rigorously follow our privacy policies and the rights of LinkedIn users on their sites.
