William Tincup’s Summary

About Me…

My tombstone will read "harsh but fair" – no doubt. I’m a seasoned entrepreneur and a sophisticated marketer. I’ve made thousands of mistakes in being both an entrepreneur and a marketer. Like most people, I try to learn from all my experiences – good, bad and ugly. I cut my teeth in retail – Albertsons and Wal-Mart. I spent eight years in school earning three degrees to find that I was virtually unemployable. Thus, I’m an entrepreneur for life.

William Tincup’s Experience

  • Principal

    Starr Tincup

(Privately Held; Marketing and Advertising industry)

    November 2000Present (8 years 9 months)

Starr Tincup is a marketing firm for human software and services vendors. We offer strategic consulting, tactical execution (including content and creative), media planning and staffing.

We work with firms that are involved in the employee lifecycle from hire to retire (or fire). We usually find ourselves working with the CMO or the VP of marketing - sometimes that person is over sales too. At smaller or startup organizations, we're often working directly with the CEO.

Our engagements follow two basic structures: retained or project. A retainer is really just a series of projects, back-to-back-to-back. A project has a defined start, middle and end.

Starr Tincup works a small niche, thus client confidentiality is important to us. We don't talk about our clients. Period.
