As members of numerous communities ourselves: faculty, students, publishers and business people, WE—Wharton, Pearson, and MIT—believe that the outcome of this book (and community site) is far better than anything we as individuals could have authored in that it represents the collective wisdom of our respective communities, and a large number of individuals who joined the community during the course of the project.
In the end, the physical book was authored in the conventional way, but it would not have been possible without the ongoing involvement and guidance from our communities.
In the spirit of continuing the process of innovation, we have already set out to “crowdsource” a second book focused on employees as vibrant social networks will reshape the organization as we all know it today—including leadership, governance, and compensation. This book will be the next in a series of several topic-specific books that demonstrate the power of “WE.”
