I practice as a Medical Doctor of Optometry. We treat glaucoma, eye infections and minor anterior surgical procedures. In 1997 the practice added Memphis' first eyecare facility with designer eyewear from all over the world. My wife Kay is co owner. In our optical what you see is what she selects from European designers and other lesser known hand made frames from around the world. These are found at International Vision shows. As a result our office provides both Medical Eyecare and Designer Eyewear.

I started after graduation from Southern College of Optometry.
I was a lease holding doctor and we developed the largest location for Lenscrafters in the US. I had a huge learning curve to tackle without any prior background in running a practice as a new graduate. I was the youngest lease holding optometrist in the US and elected as a board member to represent all of the lease holding doctors in the US. It was a great experience because all of my training up to that point had been in the sciences. Now I had to figure it all out and enjoyed the end result and gratification of my learning experience as a new Optometrist.

Dr. Johnson volunteers his time at the Church Health Center for those with limited incomes. Board member of the YMCA, the Firefighter's Association and his Church Council. Volunteer for the homeless in soup kitchens in downtown Memphis. Dr Johnson is a licensed Medical Optometrist. He is a member of the American Optometric Association,West Tennessee Optometric Association and West Tennessee Eye Task Force.
