Sr. Director, Communications at MTV
Greater New York City Area
At the end of 1999, accepting a role in a marketing and advertising group at American Express gave me the "bug" that drove me to the position I'm currently in, as a Sr. Director of communications for MTV. A serious interest in networks that predate the WWW, and fervent exposure to all things digital since, caused me to find a way to link those personal interests with my professional life, coming together in late Summer of 2005 with the creation of the Director, New Media Strategies position at MWW Group that I took on.
In this position, I worked alongside a great team to bring tools such as blogs, RSS, podcasting, wiki, and other 'new media' communication methods and channels to bear for both MWW and the company's client base. Our Digital Media practice was also responsible for the training of MWW Group staff on tools, trends, and all the materials that will help them do their jobs better going forward.
That experience on the agency side led to the opportunity with MTV, where I'll be working most specifically on corporate communications focused in the digital media space, along with advertising sales and other public relations needs. As the public relations industry is quickly finding its way through having digital-only specialists, I'm truly looking to take my understanding of how the online arena works and blend that with so-called traditional PR tactics to create great results for MTV.
Additionally, I have been maintaining/developing a number of web projects, most prominently since 2000 as the founding writer of Weblogs, Inc.'s AdJab [now owned by AOL] and The Media Drop, which covered all forms of "media," from print to broadcast to digital. In addition, I and now participate as a Scout on the AOL-owned Propeller.com social news site.
My professional background includes 8 years in Marketing, one+ year in Finance, and four years in a multi-function role at one firm including law clerkship, accounting assistant, and IT/Technical Support.

I'm interested in all things media-related, from broadcast to print, online to outdoor.
