Senior Writer at Federal Times

I'm an award-winning reporter with more than 13 years of experience covering local, state and national news. I'm currently tracking the federal government's efforts to go green, a hot topic that cuts across nearly every organizational department. I love my job, but sometimes find it's hard to see the forest for the trees while cranking out stories on a daily and weekly basis. I'd like to be able to spend more time working on deep, investigative stories that can really take readers behind the scenes to show how decisions are made that affect their lives. Working for a regional or national magazine may be in the cards.
Quick learner, adept writer, keen eye for detail, enjoy meeting new people.

I am the go-to person for all subjects related to management of federal facilities and other assets, procurement of green products and services, and environmental stewardship. I created the infrastructure and asset management beat here in the summer of 2007. Previously, I wrote about employee personnel matters, including pay and benefits, work-force management, recruitment, diversity, skills gaps and retirements.

2008 - American Society of Business Publication Editors, Silver, Government Coverage. My winning article, "Feds turn to social networking Web sites,"
reported in colorful detail how federal agencies and managers are staking a presence in "virtual worlds" and social networking web sites in an effort to connect better with the communities they serve. Here's a link to the story: http://www.federaltimes.com/index.php?S=3240006
