Thomas Helgeson’s Summary
I graduated with an MSc in Business Administration from Gothenburg University in 1994. Spent one year working for green innovative company selling amongst other things composts for household waste. I learnt a lot but as I wanted to have some experience from international business and applied for a job at Volvo Trucks where I started in 1995.
Spent twelve wonderful years (funny how time flies), whereof two and a half marvellous years in the UK, working for Volvo Trucks in several different positions starting out as a business accountant, moving on to group accounting and business analysis/control before changing course completely and I spent my final five years @ Volvo Trucks focusing mainly on market and customer research in the European truck market where my speciality was customer satisfaction, loyalty and brand image.
During my time at Volvo I decided to change my career focus from one industry sector towards working with issues more related to the society as a whole. I studied a basic course in Social Work at Gothenburg University and realised I wanted to get back to where I started almost 20 years ago: Economics. In 2007 I moved to Stockholm, the capital of Sweden, in order to find a job suiting my situation and interests. Spent 6 months working for a non-governmental organisation focusing on the developing countries before I moved on to Statistics Sweden - a government agency responsible for producing official statistics.
I'm now focusing on GDP calculations and Labour Economics within the area of National Accounts at Statistics Sweden/Statistiska Centralbyrån, SCB, in Stockholm, Sweden.
