My research examines the health and well-being of children and adults with disabilities and their caregiving families. I have published analyses of public health, poverty, family support, and income transfer policies as they impact people with disabilities and their families.
I teach classes in social welfare policy, health policy, disability policy and research methods. I also direct UNC’s Developmental Disabilities Training Institute, which provides training to the North Carolina workforce that supports people with developmental disabilities and their families.
I served as an expert witness in three federal class-action lawsuits concerned with the rights of people with developmental disabilities and their families.
