Summer Spinks-Marasco's Experience

Co-founder/Organizer

Portland Animal Welfare Advocates

February 2012Present (2 years 8 months) Portland, Oregon Area

I helped organize this community led group, regular, everyday people who live in the Portland, Oregon & surrounding area who advocate for the ethical treatment of animals. I also handle all the scheduling and planning and am the main point of contact for networking with other animal rights organizations.

This is not a radical "all or nothing" type of group-we are a grassroots, active group of people coming together to do something to help animals. If you support the overall welfare of animals, strive for a vegetarian or vegan lifestyle, & want some company as you lend your voice, volunteer time, & energy to make a difference for the treatment of animals in our city & beyond, then we hope you have found a home with our group!

January 2012Present (2 years 9 months) Costa Mesa, California

I created the concept and am leading this new business from planning to opening in the summer of 2014. It will include a smoothE Bar and beautE Bar, alternative holistic therapies, and specialty remedies for overall wellbeing.

Co-owner

Dated2Recreated, LLC

October 2008Present (6 years) Costa Mesa, California

Dated2Recreated, LLC is a partnership of 2 professional artists who believe in the process of re-creation, in the re-use of dated objects with a previous history, re-ducing the environmental impact by re-cycling goods instead of manufacturing new ones, & re-examining the way we view common items. Every piece we make for sale is one of a kind & based on what we find, collect, and save from a destiny in a landfill at thrift stores, garage sales, & even curbside then is re-invented with one of a kind design. We even re-imagine combinations of text and pictures for publication.

Treasurer/Director of Business Development

Robert L. Ewing, Inc.

September 2006Present (8 years 1 month) Costa Mesa, California

I work at this family operated business full time where my duties currently include facilitating, training, and conferencing with our business leaders and builders; bookkeeping; A/P; A/R; overseeing administration and customer service/sales/promotion; and managing the website, blogs, and social media. I also serve on the Board of Directors as Treasurer of this family corporation. And speak regularly at Shaklee meetings all over the U.S.

Managing Producer/Director of Literary Research & Development

The Theatre District (at the Cast Theater)

September 1993June 2007 (13 years 10 months) Greater Los Angeles Area

I performed various jobs at this non-profit theater with numerous responsibilities, as part of the theater’s administration, management, and production team for 14 years. For 6 of those years, I held two main positions with the following general duties: casting and producing the main stage and second stage shows; choosing material/scripts for production; advising the Artistic Director on planning a season; cutting, updating, and adapting old plays and poor translations; working closely with the Executive Producer; organizing, facilitating, and overseeing the New Works program for beginner playwrights; hosting readings and stagings; acting as the liaison between writers, directors, technicians, and actors. One aspect of my position as Managing Producer was assisting in the coordination, design, and organization of all special events, including benefits, fundraisers, cast and crew parties, and opening and closing night show receptions. Working directly with the Executive Producer, we executed countless events, building strong relationships/collaborations with the community and local businesses, including establishing regular underwriting and donations. During the 2002 Los Angeles Edge of the World Theater Festival, we also worked with event sponsors.
*Relevant experience: For countless productions, I acted as stage manager, property manager, lighting technician, and sound technician, was trained in set design and costume design, and also facilitated children/young adult's acting/dance classes and adult outreach programs in the surrounding community over the years. I co-created and directed an installment in their children’s theater series called “Not So Tall Tales”, a piece which I also wrote entitled “The Story of Duncan Ug Ly”.
