Since securing his first leadership role in the mid 1990's Stephen has worked to build effective development teams capable of realising the implementation of new ideas and proving disruptive concepts.
In all of the roles Stephen has held with these organisations he has seen through to the impact on the customer arising from the changes required. His perceptive and intuitive approach does not stop there, yielding an ability to grasp how critical variables may change in different time frames and communicate both underlying structural simplicity and the subtle shifts in forces that arise from intense yet balanced competition.
In his years at Optus Stephen has focused on new mass market delivery mechanisms and applications for various communications and entertainment technologies. Stephen has never restricted his scope to the technical and engineering realms, always looking for the public policy, regulatory, business, market and customer effects.
Stephen well understands mass market economics in customer access networks and is capable of passing this understanding on in a manner that has impact on the audience.
Long an advocate of close supplier - operator relationships in a competitive framework, Stephen has worked the last two years to realise a truly disruptive alliance between energy utilities and communications utilities to realise mutual benefit to both sectors. This proposal remains poised on the conceptual edge between being an idea ahead of its time and yet just in time.
Father of two precocious drama students at Newtown in Sydney, Stephen no longer develops software in his spare time, preferring the physical world of domestic architecture. He has honed his carpentry and project management skills at home on an ambitious upstairs extension.
In his next role Stephen looks forward to participating in business development and pre-sales activity in growth markets.
