American University's Young Women Leaders Board (YWLB), a bi-partisan group of women in their thirties who work in many different jobs in politics including Presidential administration and Congressional staff, campaign consultants, lobbyists, lawyers, and non-profit activists. This diverse group is committed to increasing the number of women working in political professions and believes that the best way to achieve this goal is by actively recruiting and training young women. YWLB runs WeLEAD, a year-long political leadership training program for women age 21 to 25 interested in careers in politics and public service. WeLEAD develops participants' leadership skills including research, public-speaking, speech writing, and networking and introduces them to myriad political careers. LKK went 7-0 on ballot initiatives in 2006, including some issues that went beyond the Democratic wave. LKK has produced breakthrough media winning more than 30 Pollie Awards given by their peers in the political industry and a national advertising Clio.
