Rajagopalan Srinivasan is an Associate Professor in the Department of Chemical & Biomolecular Engineering at the National University of Singapore. He is concurrently a Principal Scientist at the Institute of Chemical & Engineering Sciences, where he leads the Process Systems & Control team.
Raj’s research program is targeted towards developing artificial intelligence and systems engineering approaches for benign process design, agile process control and enterprise optimization. He is a consultant to Danzas, Emerson, ExxonMobil, Honeywell, Singapore refining co, Yokogawa, and several other major companies. Since 2004, he is a scientific advisor to the Institute of Mexican Petroleum.
Raj's research has been recognized both nationally and internationally. In 2006, he was a finalist for the Singapore National Academy of Science’s Young Scientist Award. He received the Best Paper Award of 2002 from the premier journal, Computers & Chemical Engineering as well as the Best paper Award in IEEE's International Conference on Industrial Informatics 2006. He has been invited to deliver plenary and keynote lectures in several international conferences including the International Joint Conference on AI, European Symposium on CAPE, and FOCAPO. He serves as an invited delegate in Europe Federation of Chemical Engineers Working Party on Computer-Aided Process Engineering. He is a member of the Editorial Board of the International Journal of Data Analysis Techniques and Strategies and the International Journal of Information Systems and Supply Chain Management. Since 2001, he has served as the President of the American Institute of Chemical Engineer’s Singapore section. He is also the current Treasurer of the Fieldbus Foundation End-User Council in Singapore.
His teaching has been recognized by NUS through a Gold Medal for innovative teaching in 2004 and internationally by the Award of Merit from the Association for Media Technology in Education in Canada.
