Senior Vice President, Real Estate, New Business Planning, Mergers & Acquisitions at Wal-Mart
Hong Kong
EXPERIENCE: I'm a merchant and retailer 1st, very clear about that.
My customers buy our products and services and we want them to be promoters of our business - the need for continual focus on them is paramount and the need to get into their shoes each day is a necessary step to understand how I need to mentor our people.
I started in retail working part time in a small town hardware store. It was great. Then moved into Menswear specialty stores and when I was 18 I joined K-Mart Australia in store operations.
When I was 22 I moved into Shopping Center Management with Byvan, a focused retail management company. The experience that I gained in Byvan taught & shaped my Real Estate and Development skills.
DAILY GOALS: Lead people in our organisation and related organisations related to the development of sustainable business growth - to excell in their areas of responsibility and to identify, share, import and impliment centers of excellence in their businesses - again to accelerate sustainable business growth. Develop, understand, re-assess, re-set as a continuious cycle of improvement. I apply the required principals of development and strategy to enable us to plan and impliment our growth through our people and people in companies and organisation that we work with.
Strategy planning (business, people, organisational), format evaluation, site evaluation, retail development design (stores and malls), procurement, merchandise store planning, construction, negotiation, mergers & acquisitions, integration, branding.
