Penny Fletcher’s Summary
I am a freelancer who has written and edited for more than 35 years for major companies including Sunbelt Newspapers, Media General Communications Inc., Amazon Books (self-publishing division editor); as well as many magazines and newspapers. My main website, www.pennyfletcher.com, connects with other sites with which I am affiliated; write for, or socialize, including Twitter & Facebook. I quit the major media to freelance in 2007 because of the "politically-correct speech and reporting" issue about which I wrote my latest book, "Soft News." Fearing we can no longer "safely" call a spade a spade, I recently won a Florida Press Award for "Politically-Correct Speech Steals Meaning from Holidays," yet I find that few are ready to admit, let alone publish, the exact truth in this day and time. I polish other author's work before submission, write book queries and proposals, and edit for flat-rate fees posted on my site. I once hosted a radio show called "The Uncensored Reporter" and love to speak on the loss of our Constitutional Rights under the guise of "protecting the common good and fear of offending someone." I am hoping to meet up with others of like mind, especially magazine and book editors and publishers who might want to publish (or republish) my works. Years of awards and testimonials are available on my site for my editing, as well as writing of fiction and nonfiction, both long and short.

I write for Tampa Bay publications, world-wide Internet sites and national magazines. I also work with a few authors preparing their work for publication, offering critiques, full line edits and book proposal services and teach a creative writing course. My passion, however, is the history (and fall) of Free Speech and Constitutional Rights issues.I have given up my bi-weekly radio show in favor of speaking directly to groups, large and small.

Penny Fletcher’s Honors:
Too numerous to mention here but I have received many Florida Press and Community Papers of Florida awards from 1990 to 2009. In 2007, however, I received one for Best Original Writing from the Florida Press Assn. for "Life in The Ford White House" and for Best Community Editorial (in the state) from Community Papers of Florida. I did not enter in 2008 but in 2009, received a Best Original Writing award and Best Community Editorial award from Community Papers of Florida. I have also received Writer's Digest contest awards.
