Finance Director at Baker Ross
Twickenham, United Kingdom
I am a chartered accountant (ICAEW) with extensive experience in commerce in industry.
A few short bullet points follow summarising my experience:
- I am experienced in and like working in entrepreneurial businesses. I have been the FD of two private equity backed businesses, one AIM listed business and an owner managed business.
- The challenges of high growth businesses are nothing new to me. Both Baker Ross and Tikit have had large double digit revenue and profit growth.
- I have created finance departments from scratch in an entrepreneurial environment. This has included recruiting entire teams, implementing systems, controls, management reporting and budgeting from ground zero.
- I strive to find cost savings in every business I have worked in including areas such as insurance, taxes and office overheads.
- I have very good analytical skills which come in useful when probing and challenging staffing levels and other operational costs and working with other directors to control costs.
- I have experience of and enjoy getting involved in acquisitions and disposals. I have taken a VC backed business through the trade sale process. I have worked on a number of acquisitions.
- I have raised bank financing in the current market conditions. I have also previously worked in a highly leveraged business and managed relationships with bankers.
- I have experience in and enjoy making presentations to private equity investors, institutional investors, analysts and bankers.
- I have strong IT skills and have implemented new accounting systems in my last three roles.
Overall I can be both very hands on and see the bigger picture as required. In this challenging business environment I am the sort of person who will roll my sleeves up and cover any task in my team in order to provide a cost effective finance function to an employer.
