My goal is to monetize my passion: meteorology, but starting companies that make the weather experience more accessible and enjoyable. I helped to launch EarthWatch 3-D weather graphics in 1990, licensing software to TV stations worldwide.Steven Spielberg used EarthWatch software in "Jurassic Park" and "Twister". Following the sale of EarthWatch in 1997 I started up Digital Cyclone, hoping to personalize weather forecasts and displays on the web and mobile devices. That business was sold to Garmin, Inc. in January of 2007. Currently I am starting up Singular Logic, a patent holding company. Our goal is to reinvent news and advertising on the web. I worked for 11 years at WCCO-TV in Minneapolis. Now I'm focused on 4 Internet start-ups. I am Director of Meteorology for La Crosse Technology, excited about their new web site and powerful, wireless, handheld information-tablet, "Weather Direct". This summer we launch WeatherNation, syndicating, "central-casting" weather reports for web sites, cable channels and broadcasters from a new studio in the western suburbs of the Twin Cities. NoozMe LLC will attempt to capitalize on Singular Logic's pending patents, offering up a new approach to news and advertising as we build out a portal and attempt to vaidate the business model. In addition I try to make monthly appearances on Public TV, KTCA's "Almanac" program, and update several blogs and web sites. I am heavily involved in climate change, speaking to schools and other non-profits, in addition to being active with the Boy Scouts, "SAVE" (Suicide Awareness, Voices of Education, a national suicide prevention outreach based in Bloomington) and on the board of the Minneapolis Planetarium.
I enjoy visualizing and starting up companies related to weather and television news, trying to place bets for emerging technology and services before they reach a critical mass in the marketplace. The goal is to carve out specific niches and aggressively pursue patents for very specific technologies that have sustainable business models.

Singular Logic LLC is a privately held patent company. I've teamed with 2 of the most accomplished patent attorneys in the nation in an attempt to lock up potentially valuable intellectual property related to new media, news and a potentially revolutionary new approach to advertising. The ideas launched at Singular Logic will ultimately be validated in a parallel start-up, NoozMe LLC, also based in the Twin Cities.

WeatherNation LLC is focused on syndicating/outsourcing weather content, via the internet, to web sites, cable channels and television broadcasters nationwide trying to trim margins and save money, without cutting into the quality of their video-based weather programming. We have launched an HD weather studio in Excelsior with 6 full-time on-air meteorologists, providing English and Spanish weather reports via the 'net.
