Senior Writer at Penn Medicine Office of Development & Alumni Relations
Greater Philadelphia Area
I first came to PENN Medicine, which is comprised of the University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine and the University of Pennsylvania Health System, as an Assistant News Officer; my primary responsibilities included generating news releases and creating media interest for several academic/clinical departments as well as maintaining the Communications department web pages.
Because of my writing skills, I joined the Publications division a year later and began writing for the Health System's internal publications as well as the School of Medicine's alumni magazine. I also continued supporting the web site.
However, the department's needs changed since I took my new position and while I enjoyed some degree of technical work, I wasn't interested in making a career of managing online databases and performing media tracking.
So I am absolutely thrilled to be working as a full-time medical development writer and remaining part of the PENN Medicine family. The University has just launched an ambitious $3.5 billion campaign, of which PENN Medicine plans to raise $1 billion. Many, many great things are afoot...
