Neil Stuart served for many years as a practice leader in the health care consulting practices of Price Waterhouse, PricewaterhouseCoopers and IBM. In April 2009, Neil retired from IBM and he now has his own consulting firm.
His early work experience includes three years as a consultant with Program Planning Consultants in Ottawa and service as a volunteer on a World Health Organization project in the West Pacific.
Neil taught for several years in the University of Ottawa's Masters of Health Administration program. He currently has an adjunct appointment as assistant professor at the University of Toronto in its Department of Health Policy Management and Evaluation, where he has taught courses on evaluation and planning.
Neil serves on the Canadian Institute for Health Information’s Expert Analytic Advisory Group. He is a member of the Advisory Board of the Health Industry Management Program at the Schulich School of Business, York University. He also served for many years on the editorial board of Healthcare Management Forum.
He was on the authorship teams for IBM’s Healthcare 2015 reports. He is also the author of many journal articles and conference papers on health care, health policy and the role of technology in health care delivery.
He is currently an active board member of Toronto East General Hospital (Board Chair), the Ontario Hospital Association, The Change Foundation (Treasurer), VON Canada and the Patients' Association of Canada (Secretary).
Neil received his PhD from Brandeis University where he was a fellow in the University's Health Policy Center. He previously graduated from Carleton University and the University of Nottingham.
He has a Certified Management Consultant (CMC) designation from the Canadian Association of Management Consultants, a designation recognized by the International Council of Management Consulting Institutes.
