The security of any modern cryptosystem relies on the assumption that keys used for authentication and message encryption are kept secret. This assumption is not easy to satisfy in most practical applications. The most commonly used method is the encryption of keys stored on a computer device using conventional passwords. However, passwords are vulnerable against numerous attacks since they can be either guessed or stolen. Another basic problem is the user authentication. It is well known that when using a traditional and widely used cryptography methods, user authentication is achieved by the "challenge - response" protocols, the essence of which is the verification of the fact that the party that wants to confirm his identity possesses a secret key. In this paper an overview of methods of password generation from biometric data is presented. Also, some challenges and possible directions of future research are discussed.

This paper examines security problems of biometric based authentication. An authentication method is suggested, which is based on fingerprints with steganographic data protection in all stages of functioning. Suggested procedures of fingerprint based enrollment and authentication are functionally described.

This paper examines the applications of steganography for ensuring security at all stages of fingerprint based authentication. An authentication method is suggested, which leverages steganographic data concealment techniques for ensuring secure transmission and storage of fingerprint data. Suggested procedures of fingerprint based enrolment and authentication are functionally described. An algorithm is proposed for selecting the most informative fingerprint fragment, which is needed for the suggested authentication method. A method of increasing the informativeness of the selected fragment is proposed for providing more accurate authentication.

Working on the application's database using SQL Management Studio 2012 and on the application's UI using MVVM Light framework, Telerik controls and ArcGIS library.

Created unit tests with the aid of the Visual Studio unit testing framework.
Developed a security software application intended to lock and unlock a workstation depending on its proximity to a device paired to it via Bluetooth (e.g. a mobile phone or a tablet). Used MFC (Microsoft Foundation Classes) framework for GUI development and a company developed Bluetooth protocol stack for the interaction between a workstation and a paired device.
