Data on 17,188 university students enrolled in five different calculus courses was used to estimate the effects of a tutoring program on grading outcomes. An ordinal probit regression model reveals that participation in the program is associated with a significant decrease in the probability of receiving a D or F letter grade and an even more significant increase in the probability of receiving an A or A+ letter grade. Pathways to causality were not established due to the limitations of the dataset. However, a difference-in-difference estimator suggests that there is a slightly positive, latent treatment effect that follows program participants into the next calculus course they take.
