I hacked on the BBC Microcomputer and subsequently the IBM PC-AT during the early 90's writing lots of utilities , games etc. My MOM worked at the Birla Industrial and Technological Museum at Calcutta and had instilled in me a deep love for science. The Museum's hallowed premises was my playground as I grew up. The Museum also started a Computer Club in 1990 where began my passion for computing.
I participated in the Software Competition in 1990 and '91 at the Museum and came 1st and 2nd respectively. Subsequently I delved into DOS internals and almost wrote a DOS Extender. I also worked on multimedia educational software for a while on Windows 3.1, 95 etc on Delphi.
My first job in '95 involved working on ORACLE: PL/SQL programming, Developer 2000(ugh!), schema design, query optimization.
I joined HCL - Cisco 1 year later where I was exposed to Solaris and fabulous 21' Tektronix X-Terminals. I messed around with Cisco switches and routers and configured almost every routing protocol in existence on IOS.
At HCL - Cisco I worked on Network Test Tool development, Emulation. Later I moved to Network Management Group working on a Management Appliance Project. I was also designing the Security Services Framework for the appliance.
I joined SUN Microsystems in Aug 2003. This was a job that I had always wanted as my real interest is in Systems. In the Solaris Sustaining team, I have worked on utilities, libraries and recently hacking around with the kernel.
I am also involved a lot with OpenSolaris activities and started the BeleniX community project (http://www.belenix.org/) in August of 2005. I have introduced several new technologies via the BeleniX LiveCD and it has become quite popular.
I was also involved with SUN's Project Indiana during the initial 9 months of it's development. My work on developing various technologies for BeleniX and subsequent work in the Indiana project formed the foundation of project Indiana.

My love life with silicon began in 1990 when I was introduced to the amazing BBC Microcomputer (Motorola 6502). It continues today. Even though my field of study was very different I decided to switch lanes after graduating and did a masters diploma course on advanced computing.
