I had the fortunate opportunity to work both on the creative and technical side in college. Being a webmaster helped me learn how to work with others and collaborate on a visually appealing project. On the flipside, I learned much about the software development process working as a web developer. Both were enriching and both gave a preview to where my career is going toward now.
After college and some time spent looking for an industry job, I did a stint as a tech support rep for Gateway computers. I truly learned what it takes to help people with computers. Unfortunately time was short there as the part time position there was eliminated for all workers.
I had decided to get my Masters in Computer Science, but after 3 weeks in I took the job at the Kansas City Art Institute. I worked with great many different types of people and had a great time creating, supporting, and managing equipment and software at KCAI. I learned much more about Macs there as well.
Currently, I am enjoying my position at Public Televesion 19, Inc. I work with others supporting a video project for Educational Services. I also do general support and have had some time programming. There has been some cross training involved including work with graphical displays on live TV.
Where I want to end up marries what I started out doing separately, My goal is to be involved with projects that revolve around professional audio or video. Programming software, designing web pages, and working with the open source community are all things that I am shooting for. Applications of Artificial Intelligence on those formats are extremely appealing to me as well.
